I started my book review blog in 2009 and I have read so many outstanding books that I wanted to share them again with my followers on #SegueSaturday. I first posted this review in February 2010. It was a ground-breaking book for me and established my love for young adult fiction novels. An unforgettable read that brings many emotions to the surface. A book I recommend to readers over and over again!

She stares at something above my left ear. Words climb up my throat. This was the girl who suffered through Brownies with me, who taught me how to swim, who understood about my parents, who didn’t make fun of my bedroom. If there is anyone in the entire galaxy I am dying to tell what really happened, it’s Rachel. My throat burns.
Melinda has been ostracized by her peers because she called the cops at a summer party, but no one knows the horrible secret she is hiding. “It” has devastated her life and she feels there is no one to talk to so she keeps silent until “It” rears its ugly head again and she needs to save her former best friend from undergoing the same fate Melinda did.
A truly memorable novel that reaches into a young teenagers anguish and reaches into your soul.
An excellent must read for young teenagers and parents alike.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Laurie Halse Anderson is the New York Times-bestselling author who writes for kids of all ages. Known for tackling tough subjects with humor and sensitivity, her work has earned numerous American Library Association and state awards.
