When the salon manages to pull down the review, Audra declares war. It becomes her mission to post pictures of her bad hair on every photo share app she can find. Then her enemy comes for her.
Hamish Stuart. The hair whisperer himself. Over six feet of beautifully muscled Scotsman that’s used to having supermodels and A list Actresses fall at his feet. Now that he’s met her he wants more than apologies. He wants her heart.
MY REVIEW
This is my first book of this series which can be read as a standalone. I have to admit I’m not a big fan of novellas, but they’re starting to grow on me. Case in point, this romantic comedy is very well written with well-developed characters which is hard to do in 80+ pages.
Audra was placed into foster care early in her life working hard to become an independent woman and needing no help from others. She put herself through college and plans to start an internship as a forensic biologist, but disaster strikes. She splurges on a high-end salon in New York and she walks away with an orange mullet. When she asks the salon to fix it, she gets shut down so she declares war and posts a bad review on social media where all hell breaks loose including losing her job.
Hell hath no fury like Hamish Stuart when the future of his famous salon is threatened. However, the hot Scotsman can make magic with hair as well as admit when he is wrong. After some investigation, Hamish realizes the mistake is theirs (a runaway receptionist) and proceeds to give Audra a new makeover in more ways than one.
There are some who believe in love at first sight. My partner being among them. So on his behalf I do believe two people can fall fast for each other as in Hamish’s case certainly. With Audra following a little more slowly which is very smart and understandable considering her background. Sometimes you can’t hurry love, but sometimes you just have to go for it and see what happens. The supporting characters are a great addition such as Audra’s fun and enthusiastic friend, Jesse, and Hamish’s loving sister Glenna who gives Audra a job with no questions asked.
Overall, this is a quick and enjoyable read with quirky and fun characters. If you are the type to fall in love quickly, give this romantic comedy a try.
