Rich Prick by Tijan

ABOUT THE BOOK

He walked into school on his first day and owned it.
I guess that’s what happens when you’re a prick, rich, and you’re best friends with the ruling school’s king.
Also didn’t hurt he’s drop dead gorgeous.

That’s all fine.
I mean, I have nothing to do with them.
I’m a loner, invisible, and that’s how I wanted it to be.

I was even proud of it, until I wasn’t.

Until I saw a girl kneel before him.
Until I couldn’t look away.
Until he caught me watching.

His name is Blaise Devroe. My name is Aspen Monson.
He only knew how to get, command, and demand attention. I knew how to do everything but that.
And this is our story.

MY REVIEW

Who can resist a title like that? Is it true? Yes. Is he hot? Yes. Is he messed up? Most certainly. Is he redeemable? Possibly.

I’d read that once you finally share your deepest secret, you’re supposed to feel free. That was bullshit. It had just imprisoned me further.

Blaise has some serious issues. He’s angry, confused, and falling for the weird girl. She brings out the good in him. He doesn’t deserve her. But he will keep her as long as she will stay.

I wasn’t the girl for a happily-ever- after. I never had been. I’d always known that.

Aspen is the loner. The nerdy book girl. She lived for camping and being alone with her thoughts, but he broke through her barriers. She was his, for as long as he needed her. She’s not kidding herself. He will leave and she hopes she will survive it. People always leave her.

I’ve read bully romances before and I agree Blaise is a jerk, but he’s dealing with more than most young men his age are which comes out in the story eventually. It’s Aspen who brings out the best in him even though she is dealing with some serious issues herself. It’s an opposites attract kind of relationship which works well.  Also, the supporting characters are many, but very important to Aspen and Blaise’s story.  I have to say I cheered and I cried for these two lovers and was thrilled that the author included epilogues to seal the happy ending they deserved.

Don’t let the title fool you. This book is so much more than teen angst and bullying. The author tackles serious subject matter such as death, abuse, and PTSD.  Recommend highly!
