Chasing Beverly by Ashlynn Cubbison
ABOUT THE BOOK
Two people. One chance to let it all go.
Seeking redemption, Beverly Morgan has spent the last four years building an empire that was someone else’s dream. Devoted to her work, a handful of friends, and an array of charities, she’s been able to lock away her heart and convince herself it’s dead. After an unthinkable tragedy, Beverly should know by now that a single day can change everything.
She can’t run from love forever.
Gavin has it all, a thriving business, phenomenal family, supportive friends, but an hour with Beverly Morgan makes him question his entire life and his own happiness.
She could be exactly what he needs, if she’s brave enough to open up again.
MY REVIEW
The people I love the hardest die. It sounds crazy, but it’s true. The only way to protect myself and anyone special is to freeze them out.
Beverly had so much ahead of her at age 17 when tragedy struck and she built a wall around her heart. Now she is a CEO of her own company and she has entered into a partnership with the first man that she finds attractive since the accident years ago. But “she knows after what she did, she doesn’t deserve to love again”.
Bottom line: my heart is a lost cause when it comes to Beverly Morgan. My mother told me someday it would happen, and when it did, I would immediately know and nothing would dull my emotions. She was right.
Gavin has been warned about Beverly. She has a zero flirting and dating policy and she’s uptight and controlling, but he’s intrigued from their first meeting and with patience and determination vows to break down her walls.
The settings are in San Diego, California, and Portland, Oregon. Both spots have beautiful and different landscapes which the author describes in loving detail.
The pacing was fast enough to keep me reading and slow enough to savor the beautiful love story and find out if Gavin and Beverly could pursue a relationship.
Beverly has spent several years blaming herself for the accident that destroyed her life and the raw emotions she feels and gradually reveals throughout the book are heartbreaking. Gavin’s patience, honesty and respect toward Beverly is noble and truly extraordinary. A man after my own heart.
This story appears to be the first in a series because it ends on a cliffhanger. Another book I couldn’t put down and a story I am excited about continuing. I loved this tender story about forgiveness, hope, and starting over. Recommend highly!
Thank you to Ms. Cubbison for giving me the opportunity to review this book with no expectation of a positive review.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ashlynn Cubbison is a goal-oriented, driven woman, who owns and operates four companies with her husband. They have two beautiful sons together, and although her life is chaotic, fun, full of love and never the same each day, somehow she finds room for writing as well.
Growing up Ashlynn struggled with reading. Then, in her sophomore year of high school, a small seed was planted. After acing a literary test, her teacher looked her square in the eye and said “you’ve been selling yourself short all year. I wonder what you could achieve with some effort.” After delving deeper into books, she discovered Pride and Prejudice, and has been an obsessive reader ever since.
Eventually her love of books translated into writing. She hopes to inspire others, especially children, to find their passion as she did.
