Hannah and the Hitman by Vanessa Vale

ABOUT THE BOOK

What happens when a sexy, cocky hitman and a secretly smutty small town librarian get together? Sparks fly.

I’m a hitman. With all the bad guys out there, business is brisk. I don’t have time to focus on anything but work until I sit beside a curvy woman on a plane… and read over her shoulder. I’m instantly obsessed with the small-town librarian who dreams of having a happily-ever-after of her own but is convinced true love is a fantasy only found in books.

My new job? Proving that she’ll have an HEA with me. Because she’s mine.

Except… big problem. I haven’t told her I’m a hitman. Turns out, she has a few shocking secrets of her own. When a mafia boss doesn’t like me distracted from one last hit, can I be a superhero and keep Hannah alive, or am I not the one wearing the cape?

Hannah and the Hitman has tons of heat, lots of laughs, plus a fun, supernatural twist.

MY REVIEW

My first Vanessa Vale story had me laughing, blushing, and rooting for the naughty librarian and the alpha hitman. From the moment Jack tells Hannah to slow down while reading a sex scene in a romance book because he can’t keep up, I was hooked.

Hannah is an unassuming, good girl who loves reading steamy romances with sexy book boyfriends. She never expected to meet one on a plane from Vegas to Colorado. With a crazy, disapproving family, recovery from a life-changing condition, and endless medical bills, she needs a confidence boost. Enter the sexy, growly Jack Hollister, hitman, stalker, “spanking” new romance reader, and her male fantasy comes to life, making her feel worthy of attention and love.

Jack is a hitman who only kills very bad people and when he meets a good girl who wants to be bad, his entire world changes. She intrigues him with her quiet intellect and calm presence giving him the opportunity to take care of her, protect her, and love her.

I love Hannah’s journey of empowerment and confidence. Jack’s obsession and protectiveness of Hannah go so far as to meet her loud, ridiculous family, which is nothing less than dedication. Best of all, he has a cat named Pancake. The way Hannah and Jack complement each other and contribute to each other’s personal development adds depth to their romance. However, the whole supernatural element felt unnecessary and disconnected from the story.

Despite the one issue, this quick read offers a delightful and engaging romance between two opposites. Add to that, the wonderful supporting characters who give support and comedy relief, and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Thank you to Ms. Vale for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
