MY REVIEW
When work nemeses are given a game-changing undercover assignment to be an engaged fake couple for a front page magazine article, the sparkles fly.
Daphne and Jack are total opposites–she’s a cheerful fluff writer and he’s a serious fact checker. But as they get to know each other, they realize they’ve totally misread one another and start to appreciate the unique qualities each brings to the table.
Daphne seems like the fun, sparkly writer who’s all about the zany humor that makes everyone smile. But underneath that bubbly personality, she’s actually pretty vulnerable, struggling with trust and self-esteem. Her jokes often hide the insecurities she feels. There’s a touching part in the book where her true strength shines through when she chooses to help Jack deal with a tough home situation instead of just focusing on her big work assignment.
Jack is the classic uptight professional, always trying to keep it together. But beneath that polished exterior, he’s hiding some deep-seated fears from his chaotic past and ongoing issues. Daphne’s vibrant personality helps him show a more tender side. He genuinely wants to help her heal from her past hurts because he believes she truly deserves happiness.
Daphne and Jack have this super charged chemistry and the first kiss is well worth waiting for. They truly complement each other in a Cinderella/Prince Charming sort of way and I love the defining moment when they realize they love each other.
Faking the Fairy Tale is a delightful romance that captivates from the very first page. I hope to read more in this series.
