ABOUT THE BOOK
I’ve sworn off love…until her. The only problem? She can’t stand me.
Gorgeous, single mom Ivy wants absolutely nothing to do with me.
She thinks I’m a player—and maybe I am.
She thinks I don’t take anything seriously—and maybe I don’t.
She thinks I can never make her happy—but I’ve never been more focused on anything else. Not ever. Not even on hockey, and I live and breathe the sport.
She doesn’t understand that she’s become my reason for existing—
That if there’s any game in my life I’m willing to do anything to win…
It’s claiming her heart as mine.
MY REVIEW
Book 3 in the Sierra Hockey Series has a dash of comedy, drama, and a relationship that starts off on completely shaky ice.
Knox Adler, is a charming, laid-back hockey player who has always had his eyes on the puck and not much else. His biggest concerns are scoring goals and fending off puck bunnies, but everything changed when he met the team’s physical trainer Ivy. She’s a single mom who’s been through her fair share of heartache, and she isn’t exactly thrilled about Knox’s playboy reputation. He’s just another hot guy in her eyes and she’s not about to let him break her heart or her daughter’s.
When Knox steps up and breaks down Ivy’s defenses by showing his protective side and the adorable way he interacts with her daughter, there’s no denying the chemistry that sizzles between them. It’s exciting to watch the smoldering tension and sparks flying every time they’re together. Knox’s playful teasing and Ivy’s uncertainty create a rollercoaster ride of emotions. His drive to build trust and prove to Ivy and Evie that he’s not going anywhere is commendable, and his thoughtful gestures are lovely. Ivy’s character grows the most from being emotionally battered and vulnerable, to finally standing up for herself. However, I felt her breakthrough needed to be done before the epilogue which should be reserved for happier times.
Of course, supporting characters are crucial to the story and Knox’s teammates and family give Ivy and Evie the companionship and home they crave. My favorite character by far is six-year-old Evie. She’s smart, glittery, and gets the dad she always wanted.
This beautiful story is filled with laughter, heart, a puppy, a kitten, and that wonderful feeling of falling in love. Time for me to go back and read the other books in this series.
Thank you to Ms. Faber for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
