ABOUT THE BOOK
Camryn Moore doesn’t do December. Not the parties. Not the memories. Not the pain. She buries herself in boardrooms by day and dirty martinis by night, trading connection for control. As a high-powered CFO, she’s unshakeable. Untouchable. But behind the sharp suits and sharper tongue is a woman slowly unravelling.
Then she meets him. A stranger. A spark. A moment that should’ve meant nothing somehow changes everything.
Dec is charming, handsome, reserved, and maddeningly perceptive. He seems to see every crack Camryn hides. But Dec isn’t just a man nursing his own ghosts. He’s hiding truths that could destroy whatever fragile trust is beginning to form between them.
In a season she hates, Camryn might have to face the past she’s buried, the love she thought she’d never have, and the man who might just ruin her.
MY REVIEW
Ms. Malpas has officially become one of my go-to authors whenever I want to dive into a story that’s not afraid to tug at the heartstrings. Her latest novel does just that, combining tears with laughter in a way that only she can!
Camryn Moore is a formidable CFO shrouded in sadness. She is grieving numerous losses, and her nights spent at the bar have become an escape to drown her sorrows in solitude, until a mysterious stranger catches her eye. That figure is Dec Ellis, a man whose stern exterior hides a genuinely gentle soul. Their relationship unfolds slowly, but the chemistry between them is electric. I found myself on the edge of my seat, every page turn filled with the hope and worry of what could come next.
Dec is a stoic and ruthless businessman, yet his tenderness towards Camryn is something special. The way he helps her with simple things like putting on and taking off her coat? Captivating! It’s these little moments that showcase his protective and thoughtful nature, making him not just a love interest but also a beacon of light in her tumultuous life.
What I love most about their relationship is the closeness they share. Dec’s unwavering patience and commitment to Camryn’s happiness are an absolute testament to love in its purest form. His struggles to keep her safe and happy while dealing with his own issues are so genuine and touching. They both have a complicated history with Christmas, stemming from personal losses and family troubles, adding depth to their connection, making every joy and setback feel all the more significant.
The supporting cast brings so much warmth to the story. Camryn’s neighbor, Mr. Percival, is a delightful character with his extensive gnome collection and unwavering support. He provides moments of levity that perfectly contrast the heaviness of Camryn’s situation. April is Dec’s sister, who is another reassuring presence that Camryn needs so desperately.
By the time I reached the last page, I was cheering and sobbing at the same time! Ms. Malpas knows how to deliver an unforgettable happily ever after that leaves you feeling fulfilled and hopeful. It was, without a doubt, the best ending ever!
So, if you’re in the mood for a story filled with genuine emotions, surprises, laughter, and love that heals so much heartache, you definitely want to grab a copy of this novel. Ms. Malpas has once again woven a tapestry of sorrow and joy, and I highly recommend it!
Thank you to Ms. Malpas for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
