ABOUT THE BOOK
Marriage…To the highest bidder

But Lydia has more pressing problems―like her impending arranged marriage. Until Owen makes her father a counter-offer for her hand. Is Owen purely after her society connections? Or does Lydia dare hope that the charming stable boy she once loved is still within her ruthless, wealthy new husband?
MY REVIEW
I have had the pleasure of reading and reviewing several Virginia Heath’s books and I have to admit this one is my favorite so far. Ms. Heath writes incredibly captivating male characters and Owen is extremely swoon-worthy. After all of the years of pain and suffering he endured as a young man and knowing the girl he loved did not attest to his good character when he desperately needed it most, his kindness and noble intentions toward Lydia shine through. Though Lydia despises Owen for the way he left her life 10 years ago, she is rescued by Owen’s counter-offer of marriage when he finds out she is to be sold to the lecherous and old Marquess of Kelvedon to pay off Lydia’s father’s debts.
There are many favorite moments I loved in this book. I laughed along with Lydia at the description of Owen’s temper tantrums where he flings his arms wildly and reverts to his common accent. A remarkably endearing trait if I do say so myself. As for Lydia, I loved her courage and forthrightness to speak her mind about a request which leads to a very passionate moment worth waiting for. And what can I say about the delightful and diminutive Randolph and his charming wife Gertie. The scene where Gertie gives birth, with Lydia and Owen’s help, is unforgettable especially when she expresses castration for all the men in the house. Extremely funny!!
As if you can’t guess by now, I absolutely adore this heartwarming Regency romance filled with a fantastic cast of characters, a mystery to be solved, and a love to be rekindled. What more could one ask for?
Thank you once again to Ms. Heath for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
When Virginia Heath was a little girl it took her ages to fall asleep, so she made up stories in her head to help pass the time while she was staring at the ceiling. As she got older, the stories became more complicated, sometimes taking weeks to get to the happy ending. Then one day, she decided to embrace the insomnia and start writing them down. Despite that, it still takes her forever to fall asleep.
