MY REVIEW

This is a dark romance with two strong-willed characters destined to win the fight for love and survival.

Holland “Holly” is a beautiful, intelligent young adult author who thinks she is ordinary, but her characters are anything but. When Holly talks about her books, they are full of villains and heroes that I would love to read about. In real life she is fighting villains to find her sister who has gone missing, but one of them is someone she met years ago. Can she trust him this time?

Elijah has a horrific past that has skewed his perspective on love and family. When he meets Holly the first time, he had to let her go. When he meets her again under very dangerous circumstances he goes against all he has been trained to do, and chooses her over his career. This time she is his.

I love Holly and Elijah’s relationship and interactions. His confidence and strength makes her trust him and her vulnerability and honesty make him want her more. Elijah’s way with words is direct and to the point, but the emotion behind them is a dead giveaway for how he feels about her. Holly is so strong and beautiful though she doesn’t give herself credit. Best quote from Elijah about Holly, “She looks like a Victoria’s Secret model and acts like a goddamn librarian”. As for supporting characters, Elijah’s estranged brother, Liam, is an interesting addition and I would like to know his story, and let’s not forget the sick and perverted villain, Adam Bisset.

As dark romances go, this one had some shocking scenes, but not the darkest I’ve seen. In fact, I found this to be an exceptional story line that I couldn’t put down. If you love dark romances with strong couples and fast-paced suspense, give this book a try.
