ABOUT THE BOOK

He nearly destroyed her career. So why can’t she stay away from him?

As Dr. Carolina Ramirez’s career is taking off, she gets incredible news. Dr. Hector Medina, the doctor she idolized as a teenager and whose research she used to design her cutting-edge clinical trial, is joining her team. As her boss.

But they say you should never meet your heroes, and Carolina is about to get far more than she bargained for. She knows a liaison with her boss is a bad idea. But in addition to the intellectual spark they share, there’s an undeniable physical connection between them she can’t seem to ignore.

Then it all goes wrong and instead of explaining himself, he skips town, nearly destroying her—and her career—in his wake.

Seven years later, he’s back and opening up old wounds she’d thought long healed. She’s recovered her career, her reputation, and her confidence despite his devastating betrayal. She should hate him. Instead, she finds herself drawn to him once again.

Why can’t she get him out of her head? And why does her body still react to him after so many years apart?

This steamy, slow-burn, medical romance has a wonderful happily ever after and is perfect for fans of Mariana Zapata, Alexis Daria, and TL Swan.

MY REVIEW

How much would you sacrifice for love?

Dr. Carolina Ramirez is dedicated to her clinical trial patients and her career. So dedicated that she would never jeopardize them for anything or anyone. Not even for the love of her mentor/boss, Dr. Hector Medina. The same man who betrays her and disappears from her life for close to a decade. Leaving her devastated with the rumors and fallout that almost cost her the career she loved, Carolina works diligently to rebuild her reputation and become a notable doctor in her own right. Now he is back to set the record straight, but how could she forgive him for almost destroying her.

Carolina and Hector’s relationship is told in the past and the present spanning about a decade. Their attraction is instant but forbidden because he is her boss/mentor and I respect Carolina’s decision to keep everything professional despite her growing feelings for Hector. She has worked too hard to become a respected Latina doctor in a male-dominated field just to throw it away on uncertainty. Hector is pretty messed up with his personal life and I was disappointed with how he left things so many years ago. However, his sacrifice for Carolina is to be commended considering he waited so long and risked losing her to someone else before he could explain what really happened. True love at its best.

Overall, this is an intriguing medical romance with a great representation of strong Latino characters and an intriguing plot centered on medical research and prejudices in the workplace.

Thank you to Ms. Martinez for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
