Only Mine (Honey Mountain #5) by Laura Pavlov
ABOUT THE BOOK
Wolf Wayburn is the devil in an Armani suit. Most women would drop to their knees at just the sight of him. Lucky for me—I’m not most women.
The first time we met, he cut me off at a gas station.
So, I flashed him the bird and mocked his family jewels.
The second time we met, he tried to get me fired.
He took his shot—and he missed.
At least for now.
Wolf Wayburn was an ex-Navy SEAL with an attitude.
But it would take a lot more than the big, bad Wolf to scare me off.
I had ninety days to win the man over.
To convince him that I was the right person for the job.
But spending endless amounts of time with him proved more challenging than I’d expected.
He was stubborn and broody and charming and sexy—all at the same time.
I despised him as much as I craved him.
We taunted and teased and terrorized one another for weeks.
The first time he dropped to his knees, it was to search me for a weapon.
The second time… it was an altogether different story.
I never planned to fall for the enemy.
Because I knew it was easier to hate Wolf Wayburn than to love him.
Holy hot Navy SEAL!! Apparently, I am a little late to the game with this series because it is the last one, but it’s a doozy folks! The tension between these two is out of the park and when they finally hit it, it’s SO WORTH THE WAIT!
Dylan Thomas is so close to snagging her dream job as the new chief legal for the San Francisco Lions hockey team. She’s confident and qualified for this job. She’s basically in the bag with the current team owner and the current chief legal, but the owner’s son and heir apparent, Wolfgang Wayburn, evidently isn’t thrilled with the spitfire lawyer. After all, their first meeting was not pleasant, but it left an impression on both of them. Being forced together to recruit new players for the team, they need to keep it professional but being naughty is much more fun.
I love the verbal battles between these two as they become more and more attracted to each other. Dylan’s impressive charm and professionalism in proving her worth as a lawyer are as thrilling to watch as her frank and mischievous crushing one-liners. She’s also a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt to her family and it is lovely to see her interactions with them. She loves her independence and is not looking for a relationship, but Wolf rubs her the wrong way and she likes the challenge. It’s fascinating to watch this fierce woman schmooze her clients and insult the broody Wolf in the same breath. Wolf is a much-decorated soldier who has no time for relationships. He’s a no-nonsense Navy SEAL who does not trust easily and I have to say I didn’t like him at first. But his background is revealed, his undying love for his family and close friends shines, and his scorching hot protective instincts for the woman that drives him crazy had this reader melting in his hands (I wish!). May I add that I thought it was so honorable that Wolf, a billionaire’s son, served his country in the bravest way possible? He doesn’t throw his wealth around and that says a lot. Both of these protagonists are so brave in their own right and the author does an excellent job getting the reader to feel their pain, their fear, and their joy all while falling in love in the most captivating way.
Pick up this book and be prepared to laugh, cry, and cheer on the most stubborn couple I’ve ever met. In their words (and you’ll get this when you read the book) “I hate them so much!” I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
