ABOUT THE BOOK
Sometimes the last thing you expect is exactly what you need, the final missing piece. And sometimes it comes in the form of a towering, broody sheriff, determined to get in your way at every step.
Ridley Sawyer knows what it’s like to miss someone, to feel like a piece of her vanished—because it happened to her the night her twin sister disappeared.
Now, Ridley channels that loss into hope, traveling the country covering cold cases for her true crime podcast. She might not have found justice for her sister but that doesn’t stop her from finding it for others.
Until Sheriff Colter Brooks gets in her way.
Colt knows what it’s like to have reporters descend on his town in the wake of a tragedy, and he’s not about to let a fiery podcaster stir up trouble. It doesn’t matter that her haunting blue eyes tell him there’s more to Ridley’s story or that he can’t stop imagining what it would be like to touch her.
But when Ridley’s cold case turns hot and she’s thrust into the crosshairs, Colt has no choice but to step in. Suddenly, Ridley’s living at his house, drinking his whiskey, and stealing his dog’s affections. But she’s also proving that she’s so much more than his first impression.
And as they get closer to the truth, the game they’ve been playing might just turn deadly…
MY REVIEW
Have you ever been so immersed in a gripping story that you forget the world around you? Well, let me introduce you to a riveting tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The beautiful, independent Ridley is a true crime podcaster, and the broken, grumpy Colt is Shady Cove’s sheriff. Their instant attraction is palpable and meaningful as they try to deny it and eventually find peace in the chaos. It’s a slow, delectable burn that is so worth the wait.
Ridley is strong, brave, and compassionate. Her mission is to find the man who abducted her sister, and she believes Emerson Sinclair and the small-town residents of Shady Cove have the answers. Ridley is not your typical podcaster. Because of what happened to her twin sister, she approaches victims and their families with empathy and kindness. Those traits help her get to the heart of taming the very grumpy and protective Colt, which sets her on a dangerous path to love and redemption.
Colt… oh, Colt. He’s so broken with guilt about his sister. He only wants to protect and love her, but he is doing them both a disservice by not moving on. That’s where Ridley comes in with her fire and love of life despite her tragic past. Colt and Ridley have a common bond that makes them perfect for each other. Their banter is funny and on point, and the passion… superb!
And let’s take a moment to talk about the wonderful side characters that add such depth to the narrative. There is Emerson, the survivor; Trey, the all-knowing-all-seeing town crier; and all the nosy Shady Cove residents. Don’t forget the furry friends. I mean, who can resist a tooth-hugging cat? And those lovable dogs? They add just the right amount of charm (and a sprinkle of comic relief) that makes you fall in love with them as you dive deeper into the story.
I have to confess—I’m a total sucker for Catherine Cowles’ books. There’s just something about her writing style that pulls me in every time. She has this magical ability to create stories I can’t help but devour. And let me tell you, her latest novel, All the Missing Pieces, is no exception. It’s officially made its way onto my favorite reads list, and I can’t recommend it enough!
So, if you’re in the mood for a book that will steal a piece of your heart, look no further. Grab a cozy blanket and your favorite drink, and dive in. Trust me, this is one book you won’t want to miss!
