MY REVIEW
It seems like just yesterday (was it really in February of this year?) I was yearning for book 2 of this series and it didn’t disappoint. Rokath and Assyria have their work cut out for them as the fated mates come home defeated by the war with the Angels only to face the fury and doubts from their own kind.
Assyria finds herself in a deeply challenging position. With the pressure of earning her place at Rokath’s side, she knows the uphill battle that lies ahead. With her unique magic and fierce determination, she stands beside Rokath, advocating for the inclusion of women in the ongoing battles.
Rokath is facing immense pressure as the leader of his army while navigating the rocky landscape of acceptance. Convincing his soldiers to integrate women into their ranks is not easy, especially after recent losses that weighed heavily on their hearts. But his mate has come into his life not just to protect him but to allow him to unburden his soul. It’s a refreshing change for Rokath, who has always feared that revealing his vulnerabilities would leave him exposed.
Assyria and Rokath are not your typical heroes. They’re flawed, wounded, and incredibly relatable. In the midst of this turmoil, they create a bond that’s as much about redemption as it is about love.
Lacey Lehotzky writes mammoth epic battles, complex characters, and supernatural spice. The exhilarating plot is filled with twists, intrigue, and more than a few shocking moments as well.
But here’s where I hit a snag. After all the nail-biting build-up leading to the ultimate final battle, I found myself feeling a bit let down. It’s almost as if all the thrilling action and plot points fizzled out a bit too quickly. I really wanted that climactic moment to resonate after all the excitement leading up to it!
Overall, this story is still a wild ride through a tumultuous world of Demons and Angels, packed with movement, emotion, and some unforgettable characters. I can’t wait to read more in the series!
