ABOUT THE BOOK
She’s my workplace enemy—now my student, and way too tempting. The ocean’s deep, but this forbidden trouble runs deeper.
Eli
In our small town of Dove Key, Julianne Verne and I are known for one thing. We clash spectacularly over every aspect of my family’s resort where we both work. She’s the meticulously organized accountant thriving on order, while I’m the laid-back dive instructor thriving on anything but. We’re fire and ice in the Florida Keys, enemies and opposites in every way.
But now, I’m her unwilling scuba instructor for a wild wedding stunt. The close proximity is doing dangerous things to our long-standing animosity. Suddenly, her knife-sharp wit sounds more like playful banter. Our intense glares are looking a lot like smoldering glances. Then we combust in a beach shack.
This attraction is a forbidden complication I don’t need. Especially with Mom’s no-workplace-romances rule threatening to capsize everything. But I’m starting to think this captivating, infuriating woman might be the one adventure I can’t resist.
MY REVIEW
There’s nothing more entertaining than watching two opposites slowly fall in love, and my first Erin Brockus book gave me that and more. He’s a laid-back, charming diving instructor. She’s a buttoned-up, serious accountant. At the resort where they worked, there was one rule: “Never, ever get involved with anyone from work.” Not even if you are the owner’s son.
Eli loves his job, but he hides behind humor to hide his vulnerability and stays far away from serious relationships. Then there is Julianne Verne, affectionately known as Jules, but not by him. She’s serious about her job, doesn’t trust easily, and she’s been busting her butt to make sure the resort not only survives but thrives. But with finances tight, she’s had to make some tough sacrifices, including denying Eli money he needs to replace outdated equipment.
These two are like oil and water, but their chemistry is off the charts! When they think it’s safe to get close, they remember that little rule that looms over them like a cloud. There is a reason for the rule because the company and Eli’s family spiraled into chaos.
I liked the idea of an underwater wedding as an icebreaker for the maid of honor to call a truce with the annoying dive instructor. The more they’re together, the more Eli and Jules struggle to keep their budding relationship under wraps until they have to choose to stay together or end their relationship.
This is a fun story that offers an escape to a dreamy tropical paradise while following a forbidden romance with two opposites who bring out the best in each other. I look forward to more books in this series.
Thank you to Ms. Brockus for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
