Hate Me Take Me (Obsessively Yours #2) by Laura Bishop

ABOUT THE BOOK

When Amanda Bennett signs up for the beta feature of the Obsess AI boyfriend app, she thinks it’s just another marketing gimmick. Go on a date with a real man who matches her digital fantasy? Spoiler: she’s skeptical.

Then the app delivers. Her match is hot, brooding, motorcycle included. Perfect—except he refuses to remove his helmet, won’t share his name, and somehow knows things about her no stranger should.

Because he’s not a stranger. He’s Kade Steele, her ex-husband. The one who disappeared. The one she’s spent years trying—and failing—to forget. Now he’s back and determined to win her heart. With a little romance, a little mystery, and a deeply questionable amount of stalking.

She thought she was moving on. Instead, she’s falling for the one man who broke her heart…and this time, he’s not letting go.

MY REVIEW

I’ll be honest, some parts of this book seemed pretty unrealistic. Seriously, who would get on a motorcycle with a stranger who hides his face? Still, I was hooked and couldn’t stop reading.

Cal from the first book was a lot for Lizzy, but Kade takes things to another level. He isn’t just a lovesick guy; he’s actually an assassin. For eight years, he’s been keeping an eye on his estranged wife, Amanda, in a way that’s both unsettling and strangely sweet. It’s definitely weird to think of someone invading your privacy like that, but for Kade, that’s his way of showing love. The things he does to win Amanda back are both ridiculous and, in a strange way, romantic. When Amanda finally learns who he really is and pushes him away, his reaction completely surprised me. I didn’t expect that. But don’t worry, there’s still a happy ending.

After a motorcycle accident leaves her in the hospital and her new husband, whom she married in Vegas, is MIA, Amanda spends eight years guarding her heart. She even gives up on men and creates her ideal bad boy, Chad, in an AI app. Chad is everything she wants: safe, understanding, and always there for her. But then, in a surprising twist, Amanda swipes right on a real guy who fits Chad’s description, and that’s when things get wild.

I really admire how bold Amanda is, even though she’s dating a guy who hides behind a motorcycle helmet. It might be a little naive, but I still found myself rooting for her. I also love that she carries a pink Glock. She knows how to protect herself, which makes her character even more interesting.

This book has a dark storyline with murder, stalking, and privacy issues, but it still feels light and fun. If you want a really gritty dark romance, this isn’t the one. It’s more like a dark romantic comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously, which makes it a really enjoyable read.

Ms. Bishop delivers another entertaining read full of laughs, chemistry, and a captivating storyline. I really enjoyed every moment of it, and I think you will too.

Thank you to Ms. Bishop for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Laura BishopLaura Bishop writes books about obsessive men, clever women, and the dangerously thin line between love and psychological warfare. She lives in sunny Florida, where the skies are blue, the humidity is high, and her search history is a federal red flag.

A military spouse and full-time wrangler of two wildly energetic boys, Laura survives on caffeine, chaos, and the occasional quiet moment when everyone’s finally asleep—aka prime stalking-I-mean-writing time.

When she’s not plotting morally gray love stories with unhinged fictional boyfriends, she’s daydreaming about what it would be like to have a personal assistant who doesn’t eat goldfish crackers for breakfast.

Love Me, Stalk Me is her debut into the world of dark romantic comedy, where every red flag is just another reason to fall harder.
