MY REVIEW
Dinah is a 30-year-old widow who is lusting after her hot 22-year-old hockey player neighbor, Noah. He’s her best friend and was there for her during devastating moments in her life when she needed a friend most. He has his pick of beautiful young women and she is an older woman…a widow…someone he’ll tire of. But apparently, all their friends know something they don’t, that they care about each other and are scared to show it.
Noah has been in love with his next-door neighbor for a few years, but he’s afraid to tell her how he feels. There’s no way she would want to be with a dumb jock like him. But if he finally opens up to her, will she break his heart?
This book is full of interesting characters. Noah is a kind and considerate young man who is truly in love with Dinah, but how can they both not know of their attraction toward each other? I mean everyone knew. Everyone, but them. Dinah is working at a boring marketing job to make money to support her preferred second job of young adult writer. I appreciate Noah giving Dinah the space and support for her writing passion along with leaving all the decisions in her court, but what does Dinah bring to the table for Noah? I just feel like she strings him along for an unnecessary length of time and I find her to be a bit selfish at times. In addition, I felt the story could have been less repetitive, and shortened. As for the other characters, I did like TJ, Benny, Riley, Fi, and Roxy and expect they will be appearing later in the series.
Overall, this is a good debut contemporary hockey romance that touches on important topics. There is much potential in this series and I’m interested in the stories of the supporting characters.
