Welcome to my stop on the Finding Peace Blog Tour hosted by Xpresso Book Tours. My first Alaine Greyson book is number 3 in the series and I recommend you read the previous books so you are up to speed with the many characters and past references.

Undercover FBI Agent Tobias (Preston) Sawyer’ and local socialite and artist, Madeline Grant are an unlikely pair. Though Madeline seems naive at first, her assistance in a local mystery involving five dead girls brings her out of her shell and gets the attention she wants both from Tobias and the killer. However, I found it a bit silly having her be an amateur sleuth with no prior experience and interest in detective work. Tobias is too close to the case and his distraction with Madeline makes it worse so it’s inevitable that the whole thing would get messy. In my opinion, his professionalism and so-called savviness as a Fed were uncompelling and lacking. After all, Madeline was finding out things he should have seen.

As for Madeline’s friends and family, there were many. Because I didn’t read the previous books in the series, it was slow going and it took a while to figure out who was who and what was going on. I almost stopped reading, but it does start to pick up the pace and ends with a dramatic climax.

Overall, this book is a slow-building romantic suspense novel with many diverse characters and a complex and interesting, plotline.
