Falling in Florence (Sublime Retreats #3) by Joy Skye
ABOUT THE BOOK
Sofia Marino is focused on one thing, finding the ideal job…
When she lands the opportunity to work for Peter Williams at Sublime Retreats, it’s a dream come true and the last thing on her mind is romance.
Then an unfortunate accident means she has to go to Florence with the cold and standoffish Adam Flynn, and she knows she will have to put up with him for two whole weeks. Determined to prove her worth to the company, she throws herself into making the trip successful and dragging Adam out of his shell.
As the sparks begin to fly and Florence seduces them both, will Adam let his guard drop despite his father’s concerns about Sofia’s family ties and can she finally find a man that her brothers will approve of?
MY REVIEW
When forced to take a work trip to Florence, Italy, two opposites find happiness in one of the most romantic cities in the world.
Adam is wound pretty tight and Sofia is determined to loosen him up. Their initial encounter is awkward at best, but there is an instant attraction. Personally, I wasn’t feeling the love between these two very different people. Adam was always jumping to conclusions and acting like a child even though he was much older than Sofia. And the whole conspiracy thing with Sofia’s family was a bit too much and unnecessary. Sofia was way too flamboyant and interesting compared to Adam’s boring and unapproachable manner and I really thought she could do better.
The book moved along at a fast pace and was absolutely rushed at the ending which spoiled the romance for me. In fact, I was more interested in the relationship between Sofia’s best friend Suzie and Sofia’s brother Aldo. I did enjoy Sofia’s robust Italian family but wasn’t a fan of Adam’s brooding ex-cop of a father who was putting all kinds of doubts in his son’s head.
Overall, I loved the beautiful setting of Florence, Italy, but I found the protagonists lacked a true romantic spiritual connection.
Thank you to Ms. Skye for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
