Doctor Scandalous (Boston’s Billionaire Bachelors #1) by J. Saman

ABOUT THE BOOK

I’ve been dreading this for a year. Okay, that’s a lie. I’ve been dreading this reunion since we graduated high school ten years ago. So why am I here, standing outside the door like the eternal wallflower I am? I’d say it’s because my younger sister browbeat me into it, but the truth is, I’m tired of being a nobody. Of never taking a risk with myself and my life. And…well…maybe I’m also hoping to see him.

The tall, insanely gorgeous man walking my way now. Oliver Fritz is regarded as one Boston’s sexiest doctors. I know him as the former god of our school. The one every girl wanted, and every guy wanted to be. The one as loathsome to be here as I am.

That’s when he makes the proposal I’ve always dreamed of. Only, this one is fake. On bended knee, he places a ring on my finger and proposes we brave this reunion together, with me as his fake fiancée. But when our wild and steamy night ends in scandal, we’re forced to make a deal.

He gives me what I need, and in return I stay his fake fiancée, so he doesn’t lose face with the media who love him or his sick mother. Should be easy, right? Just a few months pretending to be engaged to one of Boston’s most notorious billionaire bachelors. What could go wrong? Turns out everything.

From USA Today bestselling author J. Saman comes a brand new Kindle-melting romance about one of Boston’s most notorious billionaire bachelors and the woman who flips his entire world upside down.

MY REVIEW

Can I express again how much I love this author’s writing? Her characters are realistic and her world-building is vital in making the story come alive which kept this reader glued to the pages.

I love this opposites-attract theme with Mr. Popular and the girl from the other side of the tracks. As he swoops in like Prince Charming and saves her from the bullies and naysayers by pretending to be in a fake relationship at their ten-year high school class reunion, all hell breaks loose.

Oliver Fritz likes complicated; Amelia Atkins likes simple. Oliver is impulsive; Amelia is organized. Oliver is wealthy; Amelia has debt. Are they too different? Not quite. They have both had their hearts broken and they fear commitment. Oliver with a cheating ex-girlfriend and best friend and Amelia with an ex-boyfriend who abandoned her in her hour of despair. Trust is something Oliver and Amelia have to earn and entering into a three-month fake relationship full of lies has the makings of a disaster. Until falling in love becomes part of the equation. Will they be able to eventually come clean without hurting their families and ultimately themselves?

I adore Oliver Fritz, charming doctor, billionaire, and reformed serial nurse dater. He comes from a large close-knit family of medical professionals and he has a heart of gold. He is definitely privileged with his fancy cars, fancy home, and family yacht, but he totally respects Amelia’s strength and fortitude to raise her young sister on her own. He just wants to help because he can and it gets him into trouble. I also love his relationship with Amelia’s smart and feisty sister, Layla. Their comfortable relationship is so honest and sweet while Amelia understandably doesn’t want Layla getting hurt if things don’t work out.

Amelia is strong and stubborn as she refuses Oliver’s help time and time again. She learned early on that she could only count on herself and not others so opening her heart is very difficult.  My heart breaks for Amelia as she is bullied and disrespected by many including Oliver’s dad who realizes, almost too late, what he has done.

I am so looking forward to reading about the rest of the Fritz clan in the coming series. Oliver’s mother is amazing with her battle with cancer and her unending support for Amelia and Oliver. My favorite character is Layla with her teenage enthusiasm, wit, and honesty.

I highly recommend this beautiful Cinderella story full of steamy romance and incredible characters who made me laugh, cry, and cheer for two broken souls to find their peace together.

Thank you to Ms. Saman for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
