The Extra Myles (A Southern Hearts Club Novella) by Melanie Munton

ABOUT THE BOOK

NOW HIRING… Fake boyfriend for 27-year-old desperate female. Must be able to deal with pretentious, New York City socialites. Attendance at family Christmas events required. Seasonal work only. Applicants not named Myles Colson need not apply.

The position has been filled. Granted, Myles is the only man in Blair McCauley’s life capable of looking her dragon mother in the eyes and not bursting into tears. Blair will need that steel whenever her mother helpfully reminds her over a glass of eggnog that a career is pointless when she could just marry rich. Thankfully, the barbecuing, beer swilling, football watching guy’s guy doesn’t even sort of fit in with her flashy New York lifestyle.

Which is exactly the point.

Although Myles is a lot more than a former jock with a pension for frosted mugs and Sweatpants Sundays. He also happens to be a gifted artist, and Blair is helping him carve out his space in the art world. Lucky for her, she’s the only one who gets to see the man behind the pottery wheel. Sans shirt.

But when Blair and Myles both come to the realization that they’ve just been pretending at pretending, they never see what’s coming for them next.

MY REVIEW

Oh, holy night! Ms. Munton has done it once again with this juicy novella. I first met Myles Colson in The Mix-Up featuring his twin brother Ryder (yeah, there’s two of them) and Ryder’s wise-crackin’ girlfriend Gretchen. Myles grabbed my attention with his unusual artistic talent and his sexy participation in helping Gretchen seduce his brother.

Um, what do you want?” That wolfish grin spreads into one with full teeth. Screw Santa Claus. This man’s the devil in disguise.

Myles is a beer-drinking, football-loving, manager of a steel manufacturing plant. He just happens to also like making eco-friendly pottery which apparently is a hit with the New York elite. When his prim and sexy curator unexpectedly asks for a favor to be her fake boyfriend in New York, he surprises himself by agreeing. The woman has more layers than an onion and he plans to peel them back slowly.

She’s a tease without meaning to be. A temptation without trying to be. A treasure without realizing the extent of her value.

She is a social media darling who loves Saint Laurent Loulou handbags and relishes drinks in a stem glass. His agreement to be her pretend boyfriend makes her nervous considering he may think less of her because of her vapid lifestyle and the annoying people in her life.  But the chemistry between them proves there may be something real happening between them.

Myles and Blair are opposites who have an explosive connection once they give in to their desires.  Myles is a sensual and no-nonsense kind of man who is not afraid to express his opinion. A wonderful complement to Blair’s insecurities and need for approval. Watching the sexy dominant Myles battle Blair’s nasty bitch of a mother on Blair’s behalf is worth seeing. And it is lovely to see Blair relax and be herself around Myles. Her dedication and support of his talent is something he’s never had from anyone else.

I highly recommend this steamy holiday novella filled with wonderful characters who won’t let anyone tear them apart.

Thank you to Ms. Munton for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
