ABOUT THE BOOK
We are the Rossetti’s.
The exiled “sixth family” of the New York mafia. We’re the good guys.
People don’t fear us…much. They respect us.
The five of us? We’re the Brooklyn Brothers.
And we protect what’s ours.
After a gunshot wound to the chest, I died on an operating table. Then I came back to life. Yet the thing that’s going to take me down is a redheaded Irish bartender who has a pension for trouble and drinking me under the table. Ash Donahue is brave, beautiful, and scarily street wise. In fact, she’s the only woman I’ve ever met who seems remotely capable of handling the kind of baggage a man like me comes with.
Not to mention, she has secrets that could very well rival my own.
I’m a soldier, a warrior. That’s all I’ll ever be. No woman wants to be strapped with that for the rest of her life. But every time we remind ourselves why we’re completely wrong for each other, we end up tangled together in the stock room. Or on top of the bar. Or against a wall.
That all changes when I find out what brought her to my city. How could she not tell me her uncle is the Irish mob boss? And how am I supposed to protect her from him and my family from our countless enemies, all at the same time?
MY REVIEW
My heart always races for the Rosetti men and Ms. Munton saved the best for last.
I didn’t fight to cause pain. I fought to feel pain.
Rome Rosetti is the private one. The Army Ranger sniper. The dangerous man women avoided in bars, except the bubbly red-headed bartender who actually made him laugh… and Rome Rosetti never laughed. What made this woman different from the rest? Why did he want to protect her? What was she hiding?
I am using my analytical brain for the sins of men. Every day I did what I loved, in a sense, but I was committing crimes.
Ashling “Ash” Donahue is the life of the party. The feisty smartarse who can take care of herself. The only one who can save her mother from the evil man who has terrorized them both every day of her life. Until she meets the one intriguing and dangerous man who can destroy her heart and her secret assignment. Will he forgive her betrayal, or will he leave her to her own fate?
Rome and Ash are polar opposites who are made for each other. Ash is fearless and quick-witted. She sees the vulnerable man underneath the dangerous mask. The man who prefers pain to pleasure. Having to hide why she is in the U.S. is difficult for her, especially when trust is extremely important to Rome. Rome has been an enigma from the first book and I couldn’t wait to see the big, unapproachable hunk come undone. What a glorious sight. The author does an excellent job describing Rome’s battle with PTSD which explains his persona. I think of all the Rosetti brothers, Rome appears to be the most possessive of his woman. The passion is so hot and so meaningful between these two. It takes a special person to break down those solid walls of his. Ash shows Rome he is worthy of happiness and Rome gives Ash the freedom she’s always wanted.
I have read all of the books in the series and there is great satisfaction when the Rossetti’s get their revenge on the mob boss who has threatened their family for years. I was also happy to see a surprising twist to Ash’s search for a long-lost person in her life. Of course, it’s always enjoyable to see how the Rosetti family is doing and I can’t wait to read little sister Gia’s story as well as Detective Bryce Connelly’s story.
I can never turn down a Melanie Munton novel because I know I won’t be able to put it down until the very satisfying end. I loved Rome and Ash’s story and if you enjoy books filled with passion, suspense, and family, I highly recommend you pick up this book and the series. You won’t be disappointed.
Thank you to Ms. Munton for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Melanie grew up in a small town in rural Missouri. After marrying her husband, she decided she wanted to try coastal life because why not? A few months later, they moved to North Carolina where she discovered her passion for writing romance, and they never looked back. They are now enjoying life with their beautiful daughter in Savannah, GA and loving every minute with their little Georgia peach.
Melanie’s other passion is traveling and seeing the world. With anthropology degrees under their belts, she and her husband have made it their goal in life to see as many archaeological sites around the world as possible.
She has a horrible food addiction to pasta and candy (not together…ew). And she gets sad when her wine rack is empty.
At the end of the day, she is a true romantic at heart. She loves writing the cheesy and corny of romantic comedies, and the sassy and sexy of suspense. She aims to make her readers swoon, laugh out loud, maybe sweat a little, and above all, fall in love.
