It Could Happen by Melissa Baldwin

It Could Happen

ABOUT THE BOOK

I don’t like change. That’s fine, because I, Tori Hayes, am quite content with my single status and fulfilling sales career. I’ll make an exception and step out of my comfort zone to be a part of my college bestie’s wedding party. Anything for a friend, you know?

But this—this is not what I thought it would be. Suddenly, I’m thrown into drama that only a Southern belle bride and her friends can stir up. The secrets, the lies, the deception—it’s more than I can take. Not to mention that groomsman Tyler, who seems to know exactly how to push my buttons.

I don’t like my buttons pushed. Or maybe I do.

Dashing groomsmen aside, why do I keep finding myself in the middle of all this madness? I want to support Caroline and give her the perfect day, but things are getting messy and fast. Is there going to be a happy ending amid all this chaos?

It could happen …

USA Today bestselling author Melissa Baldwin presents a brand new romantic comedy about friendship and finding love when you least expect it.

MY REVIEW

Another author has won me over. Ms. Baldwin knows how to write drama which includes a wedding party with hurtful secrets and good old-fashioned competition for a new job promotion. Imagine having to deal with both when you hate change.

Tori is thrilled to be invited to her college roommate’s wedding. They haven’t seen each other for years, but true friendship doesn’t let time or distance get in the way of that one special bond.  After all, Tori was there when Caroline and Andy first met. Even though Tori is the outsider in the wedding party, her confidence and goodwill win over the crew with the exception of one of the bridesmaids. There is also an annoying and pompous groomsman who is insistent on winning Tori over after an aggravating first meet. Keep dreamin’ buddy…though he is sort of cute..

Tori and Tyler’s slow-burn attraction is pleasant though I would have loved to have seen more of it.  I think there needed to be more interaction and deeper conversation between Tori and Leslie to give the story more depth. Though Tori doesn’t like change, she is very assertive and not afraid to stand up for herself. I like how she doesn’t allow Leslie to ruffle her and shakes off her nasty remarks. As a good friend, Tori’s first priority was to make sure Caroline’s wedding preparations ran smoothly considering two of the wedding party were cheating.. It took some time to warm up to Tyler. He was too cocky and arrogant for my liking and he needed to just tell Leslie to beat it. In the end, the girl got the guy while the bitchy bridesmaid got the bouquet. The book is touted as a romantic comedy and it is funny in some spots, but I consider it to be more like women’s fiction than comedy.

I liked Caroline and Andy who appreciated Tori’s mature advice and solid friendship while dealing with the whole groomsmen/bridesmaid fiasco.  Andy’s groomsmen, Matt and Clint were also enjoyable, but unfortunately, some of the bridesmaids needed to grow up. Tori’s work colleague. Parker, also seemed a bit immature as she drooled over the new guy at work, but she did give Tori some good advice about taking risks.

If you like fast-paced wedding drama with a slow-burn romance, give this book a try.

Thank you to Ms. Baldwin for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
