MY REVIEW

Shay is dealing with the consequence of a long-term relationship that has ended. She moves back home and is also struggling with a medical condition for years. Then, she meets Austin again, whom she blew off in high school and is the head of a gaming empire and her twin brother’s business partner. The plot thickens as the two characters navigate their complicated relationship, which starts as resentment and hate and morphs into instant love.

I wanted to like this book because I loved The Hate Date. The story is touted as an enemies-to-lovers trope but it changes pretty quickly making it hard for me to get into the story. In addition, I couldn’t connect with the shallow characters and the unnecessary sex scenes that I ended up skipping just to get to the plot.

It was good to see a character with a disability portrayed in a positive light and to see how they navigated the world. It was also interesting to see how their disability affected their relationship with the other characters.

If you are looking for a fun and engaging read, give this book a try. While it may take some time to get into the story, the author does a satisfactory job of developing the characters and making them more relatable.
