MY REVIEW
First of all, I am reading a series out of order again, but this book is fine as a standalone. Secondly, unrequited love is one of my favorite tropes and Lizzie and Troy’s story is funny, intriguing, and heartwarming.
Lizzie has loved Troy, her ex-brother-in-law, all her life and he always considered her the baby sister, but lately the chemistry between them has become explosive. All it takes is a hot kiss and a little smirk and it’s game on. But keeping their relationship on the down low is a challenge considering it’s a small town and Lizzie’s sister, Emma, can read them both like a book.
Lizzie is a hairdresser and Troy is a cop. This is a short read so they jump into their relationship pretty quickly, but it doesn’t feel rushed. I love that Lizzie, Troy and Emma, Lizzie’s sister and Troy’s ex, are mature about the situation and there is no jealousy or drama.
Lizzie is feisty and outspoken and Troy is calm and protective with a naughty streak. Let’s just say they find some fun things to do with his handcuffs. I couldn’t get enough of the fun and sexy banter between the main characters. Troy is also a great dad to his teenage son JT who is growing into a smart and kind young man.
This novella has a weird family dynamic that works. I highly recommend this engaging story with relatable characters and a little bit of suspense.
