ABOUT THE BOOK
What is a hero without a villain? Boring. The villain is the spark, the intrigue, the one who keeps you on the edge of your seat. Delve into the lives of those who dare to defy the norms, who challenge the hero’s journey, and who, against all odds, get the girl.
This anthology brings together a collection of clean, closed-door romances that explore the most notorious characters. From cunning masterminds to fallen princes, these stories prove that even the most feared villains can find love.
In Romancing the Rogue, the villain gets to win, as passion ignites in the unlikeliest of places. Prepare to be swept away by tales where dark allure meets heart-stopping romance.
Because aren’t we all a villain in someone’s story?

MY REVIEW
I’m not usually game for anthologies and short stories, but who can resist a bad boy villain?
This anthology holds 8 romantic fantasy short stories filled with fated humans, elves, faeries, demons, shapeshifters, and dark royalty. All have a fantastic mixture of hope and doom with everything in between.
Falling for Evil by C.N. Noble introduces the prequel of a wicked sorceress and a wronged dark prince creating havoc in the Kingdom of Zeer. It’s a reign of terror that left me hangin’ and wanting more, and I had an intriguing “lyrical” and “instrumental” playlist to get me through the turmoil and chaos. Please read more in Noble’s debut book, The Orphaned King.
Loving the Monster by TM Goodkey includes two lovers who reunite after a decade of enslavement and carnage. I enjoyed Catalina and Savan’s story of loss and hope as they fight to stay alive from mysterious forces ready to take them both down. I hope to see their story continued in a future book.
Eel Shipping by Megan Mosier contains eel spit, portals, and love. It’s science fiction at its best. Kate’s deception by pretending to be her perfect sister Julia puts her in an awkward position with a “mad” scientist using questionable tactics to save a group of large alien eels. An interesting and suspenseful story with a colorful ending.
Of Fae and Wicked Kings by Jada McCrary prophesizes a human woman and a wicked fae high king saving the Faerie and humans from destruction. The enemies to lovers aspect is one of my favorite tropes and Gwendolyn and Aspen’s journey is captivating; full of love, betrayal, and suspense. This novella is a prequel to the Wicked Fae series.
Blessed by the Fae by Jada McCrary destines a fae-blessed princess to save a fae high queen and a world of magic. This is a bonus excerpt from Jada McCrary’s Fae-blessed Series which captures an enchanting YA fantasy love triangle, though I didn’t meet the third party in this brief read. I hope to continue this story to learn how Shayna, a human, restores balance to the Faerie lands.
Thieves Without Flaws by Harper Lynn follows a fearless fae thief and her trusty cat Bandit as they are caught red-handed by the mysterious and nerdy assassin with a magical sword. I was captivated by Melody and Dom’s enchanting verbal sparring. The nerdy MMC and the daring FMC are a great duo. I look forward to continuing Melody and Dom’s journey in Foes of Fortune.
Bloodhound Rogue by Tasha Creed is a deal with the devil that leads to war. I always like a good forced marriage trope with a monster and this one has that and even more strange beings to write about. I especially want to read Ms. Creed’s Immortal Contracts series filled with fascinating characters right out of my childhood.
Dead Man’s Grave Sophea Chan is a monstrous pirate tale about a deadly man-eating captain who does more than kill his prey. Captain Umoh nicknamed “Graves” is known as one of the most ruthless pirates on the open sea and he has met his match with a little mutiny from his bounty. This novella is full of suspense and intriguing characters who appear in Chan’s Curse Bonds: Prelude to the Enclave.
I enjoyed this magical group of gripping and disturbing stories with unpredictable endings. A refreshing change from my usual readings and more fantasy books to add to my TBR pile.
