MY REVIEW
I stumbled into the middle of a series again, but with a Maggie Christensen novel, I knew I was in for a treat. Set in the charming seaside town of Pelican Crossing, this book is a delightful journey through friendships, betrayal, and a sprinkle of new romance.
Olivia Grace, or Livvy as she’s affectionately known just returned to Pelican Crossing after an unexpectedly long stay in England with her daughter. And let me tell you, change is in the air! As Livvy looks to start anew, she meets the new widower in town, Dan Parker, who has his own journey to navigate with his teenage daughter.
Dan and Livvy have a dynamic that pulls you in from their not so friendly meet cute. Their relationship is full of ups and downs, and I found myself rooting for them through every twist and turn. You can really feel the tension as they navigate their feelings and the complexities of their lives.
What I love about Christensen’s work is how beautifully she weaves the empty nest theme with a sense of renewed possibilities for those of us over fifty. Her characters show us that new beginnings don’t have an expiration date. Who says you can’t have fun well into your later years?
If you’re looking for a mature romance that wraps you in warmth and promises a happy ending, give this one a try. I recommend you start this series from the beginning to experience the wonderful sense of community from the folks in Pelican Crossing.
Thank you to Ms. Christensen for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
After a career in education, Maggie Christensen began writing contemporary women’s fiction portraying mature women facing life-changing situations, and historical fiction set in her native Scotland. Her travels inspire her writing, be it her trips to visit family in Scotland, in Oregon, USA or her home on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. Maggie writes of mature heroines coming to terms with changes in their lives and the heroes worthy of them. Maggie has been called the queen of mature age fiction and her writing has been described by one reviewer as like a nice warm cup of tea. It is warm, nourishing, comforting and embracing.
From the small town in Scotland where she grew up, Maggie was lured to Australia by the call to ‘Come and teach in the sun’. Once there, she worked as a primary school teacher, university lecturer and in educational management. Now living with her husband of over thirty years on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, she loves walking on the deserted beach in the early mornings and having coffee by the river on weekends. Her days are spent surrounded by books, either reading or writing them – her idea of heaven!
