Romance on the Docket (Forever Yours) by Jessica Powell

ABOUT THE BOOK

Minji
Love might be a fairy tale for some people, but as Manhattan’s top divorce attorney, I see how quickly romance can fall apart. That’s why I avoid it. Then Aaron Singleton, a bestselling romance author and relentless optimist, is assigned to shadow me for his new book. He’s charming, infuriating, and way too interested in my defenses. The more he tries to get close, the harder it is to keep my guard up.

Aaron
I believe in happy endings-the kind that leap off the page and into real life. When I meet Minji Lee, the so-called ‘Athena of Divorce Law, I am instantly drawn to the woman hiding behind her fortress. She’s sharp, fiercely guarded, and certain that love is nothing but trouble. Yet the more time we share, the more I glimpse the courage and tenderness beneath her armor. Winning her heart could be my most unexpected plot twist yet, but can I convince her to believe in us?

MY REVIEW

Holy cow! This book was awesome. If you enjoy strong heroines, swoon-worthy heroes, and a healthy dose of tension, then you’re in for a treat. This one features Minji Lee, a fierce divorce attorney, and Aaron Singleton, an award-winning romance writer, and their story is nothing short of captivating.

Minji is the definition of a badass. She’s killing it as a divorce attorney in a firm full of old-school guys, and we women know how hard it is to break through in that environment. But here’s the kicker: while Minji is all confidence in her professional life, her personal life is a mess. She’s juggling the pressure to make partner, dealing with her slimy ex, William, and then there’s Aaron, an author from her past who wants to shadow her for his next novel. Talk about a recipe for anxiety.

Aaron, on the other hand, is the perfect book boyfriend. His dedication to Minji is incredible; he’s patient, charming, and truly knows how to bring out her softer side. There’s something magical about watching a man pour his heart out to a woman who happens to be a bit of a tough nut to crack. Minji might try to throw down the gauntlet, but Aaron always seems to have a few clever moves up his sleeve.

I absolutely adore stories that highlight strong, powerful women paired with patient, caring men. The dynamic between Minji and Aaron is a rollercoaster of emotions. The tension is palpable, especially since they had a history in college that didn’t end so well after Minji ghosted him. The close proximity in this story brings all the feels, and once Minji starts to let go of her defenses, the chemistry sizzles off the pages.

The worldbuilding is compelling as well. You really feel immersed in Minji’s struggles and triumphs. Watching her navigate the murky waters of her professional career while rediscovering Aaron is a beautiful and inspiring journey.

I highly recommend this read if you’re into second-chance romances sprinkled with hope and a dash of self-discovery. If you’re like me, you’ll be devouring every word and rooting for these characters to find their way back to each other.

Thank you to Ms. Powell for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
