Just a Little Tempted (Sterling Family Crossover #3) by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde

ABOUT THE BOOK

I never meant to fall for my boss.

When I was hired to be Simon’s assistant, everyone warned me he was impossible—brilliant, demanding, and obsessed with control. But after surviving two months of his rules and grumpy attitude, I’ve learned how to manage my boss. Maybe it’s my chaotic upbringing or the fact that I desperately need this job, but I can’t ignore the moments when his guarded edges soften… even if he pretends they don’t.

Then one nervous slip in front of a major client turns into a fake relationship neither of us can back out of. Now I’m Simon’s “girlfriend,” attending dinners, traveling for meetings, and sharing far too much close proximity with the man I’m not supposed to want. Pretending to belong to him shouldn’t feel real—but it does. And the hardest part isn’t keeping up the lie. It’s realizing I’m falling for him for real.

MY REVIEW

I love an enemies-to-lovers workplace romance where the assistant handles her broody boss with professionalism and charm.

Raina is the type of assistant who’s not afraid to take on a broody boss like Simon, who’s notorious for having a short fuse and a long list of expectations. This guy is a perfectionist, and he fires assistants like they’re yesterday’s fashion trend. But Raina is desperate enough (and brave enough) to stand her ground against him, and I admired her guts! In addition, she’s made sacrifices throughout her life, which makes her character even more relatable and admirable.

Simon is grumpy, unreasonable, and demanding, but as much as he tries to keep his walls up, he wasn’t prepared for Raina’s intelligence and quick wit. Watching him slowly fall for her is absolutely priceless. The tension between them is like an electric current, and it’s fascinating to watch.

Simon’s trust issues are a big part of him, and while I get why he acts the way he does, I hated how he took that out on Raina. It’s frustrating to see such a strong female character like her put through the wringer. But his eventual willingness to make amends made it all worth it, albeit more groveling was needed. I do commend her brothers for not making it easy on him.

If you love romances with relatable characters, undeniable chemistry, and a believable and fast-paced plot, give this book a try. I can’t wait to go back and read the rest of this series.

Thank you to Ms. Phillips and Ms. Wilde for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
