ABOUT THE BOOK
A BRAND NEW sparkling, uplifting story about love, friendship and learning to spread your wings from Samantha Tonge✨🦋 Perfect for fans of Shari Low, Faith Hogan and Evie Woods!
Una Lowe lives a perfectly edited life in London. Other than her best friend, she’s careful about who she lets in. Emotional complications are just that – complicated. That is, until she rescues a rare white swallow… who might have just flown in to change her life.
Because, when her beloved swallow fails to return from migration one year, Una’s world crumbles. But a viral social media campaign brings a miraculous response from a man in Bavaria named Konrad, who claims the bird has also visited him. Which leads him to invite Una to his picturesque village for the chance to see their shared feathered friend together.
Stepping out of her comfort zone, Una flies to Germany. Amidst snow-dusted streets, local festivals, and Konrad’s undeniable charm, Una’s protective walls begin to fall down.
But when the complication she’s avoided her whole life comes for her, she’s forced to confront her deepest fears. As autumn turns to winter, and inspired by the tiny, brave bird that brought them together, Una must decide if she is finally ready to risk her heart.
Is the only way to know if you can fly to face a possibility of falling…?
MY REVIEW
This sweet, unusual story follows a little bird that changes two lonely lives and makes the journey very worthwhile.
Una is a Plain English Editor. Her job intrigued me since I’d never heard of it before. Una’s life is all about comfort and routine, especially spending time with her best friend Ziggy and her rescued bird, Blue. But when Blue doesn’t return from her migration, Una’s world gets turned upside down. Driven by love and concern, she sets off on a quest, tracking Blue all the way to Germany to meet a stranger named Konrad.
Una’s life is small and reclusive after a childhood of disappointment and heartache. I was pleasantly surprised when she decided to travel alone to meet a total stranger. Her journey becomes a revelation, and with Konrad’s support, she starts breaking out of her shell. I love her transformation as she learns to trust again, finds joy in life, and falls for Konrad, who truly accepts her for who she is.
Konrad is the charming physiotherapist with a heart of gold. He’s a social butterfly, surrounded by friends, but maybe a bit too nice for his own good. When he meets the shy but fierce Una, he’s a goner. The chemistry between them is strong, and you can’t help but root for their relationship.
Una and Konrad’s story is a slow burn. They are complete opposites in many ways, which makes for a fascinating dynamic. Just when it seems everything is on the right track, they face a third-act breakup that seems ominous. But it’s worth the wait to see the happily ever after they both deserve.
If you enjoy feel-good stories about friendship, love, and taking a chance on life, I strongly recommend this lovely read.
Thank you to Ms. Tonge for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
