MY REVIEW

She’d promised herself to quit dating cowboys since she had such a poor track record with them.

Amy Weaver is in a pickle.  Her night out with her niece Jennie turned out to be a disaster.  She challenged a complete, but hunky, cowboy to a bull riding contest at the Double Deuce bar and paid with a kiss that knocked her socks off.  A kiss that her niece posted on social media for the entire world to see including Amy’s family who now thinks she is engaged.  When her grandfather, “The Great Exaggerator”, manipulates Amy in bringing her new fiance to his birthday party at the family ranch, she has to locate Luke as soon as possible to convince her judgemental father and her ex-boyfriend that she has moved on.  Will she be able to keep up this charade with a perfect stranger, or will it backfire on her?

She was pretty as hell. She was sweet as sugar. She was a pastry chef. Oh—there was one other thing he knew. They were in a heap of trouble.

Luke isn’t ready for a woman in his life right now.  He is trying to establish a business and doesn’t have time for anything else, but Amy intrigues him.  When she makes him a cash deal to become her fiance for the weekend at her family’s ranch, he jumps at the chance.  Was it for the money or for the beautiful, quirky woman who needs his help?

This is a hilarious comedy that had me laughing out loud while eating my lunch in the company lunch room.  Mr. Amooi’s characters are funny, sweet, vulnerable, strong and very believable.  A man who knows how to create a real romance with real people in a real location.

Ironically, Julian, California, is actually somewhere I have visited with my husband, his father, and brother.  It is as delightful as Mr. Amooi describes it and I recommend trying the buffalo burgers at Buffalo Bill’s Cafe with a slice of apple pie, of course.

An enjoyable read about good and bad choices, love and family, and finding home.  Mr. Amooi is on my list of must read authors. Highly recommend.
