Mountain Daddy (Mountain Men #2) by S.J. Tilly

ABOUT THE BOOK

Kendra
Moving into my dad’s house at age thirty-two because my roommate scammed me out of my rent… not exactly what I’d call winning at life.
So on my drive to Colorado, I decide I need one more night of freedom, and the cute motel on the side of the road is the perfect place to stop. Bonus that it has a bar.
Extra bonus when I spot him sitting at the end of the bar.
The super hot silver fox, with biceps testing the limits of his flannel.
I debate between sitting alone or being bold. But when I catch him watching me, like I’m watching him, bold wins.
He’s charming and sweet, and I can practically feel the chemistry crackling between us.
And when I give him my room key… he uses it.
But we both know this is just for one night. That we’ll never see each other again.
Until a week later.
When he shows up at my house.
Because he’s my dad’s best friend.

Luther
I stare at her.
The woman I worried I’d never see again.
And relief wars with guilt inside my chest. Because she, the girl of my dreams, is my best friend’s daughter.
And I know I’m screwed.
Because I shouldn’t touch her.
Not ever again.
But… I know I’m going to.
Soon.

MY REVIEW

I’m not sure why I picked up this book when it had “daddy” in the title, but no regrets. This age gap story was more real and more significant than others I’ve read. It pulls at the heartstrings and tickles the funny bone as we watch two consenting adults face their challenges head on.

Kendra feels grounded around Luther, and she makes him feel wanted and needed in a way he’s never experienced. What more do you need? Except there is the problem that Luther’s best friend is Kendra’s dad and they haven’t told him yet… Oops!

Kendra and Luther’s chemistry is off the charts, and the love they share is so amazing to witness. Luther is all about loving Kendra just as she is, and how refreshing is that in today’s world? There’s no need for pretenses with these two; it’s all about genuine affection and raw, unfiltered love.

One of the things I adore about Luther is how he truly sees Kendra. When he makes a mistake, he acknowledges it and seeks her forgiveness through his actions, not just empty words. Whether it’s sweet little gestures or grand romantic surprises, you can just tell that he’s all in. Kendra has a beautiful softness about her, but she also has this quiet strength that shines despite everything she’s been through. She perfectly balances Luther’s intensity and somehow helps him embrace his softer side. I applaud how she learns to let others in and accept help when she needs it.

What really struck a chord with me was the support Kendra and Luther received from their families. They were initially worried about being judged by the big age difference, but their loved ones stood by them without hesitation. That kind of unconditional support is what we all need in our lives.

This story is a fun, deliciously satisfying read that underscores the importance of love, acceptance, and being true to oneself. An inspiring love story for all of us to be more open and loving.

Thank you to Ms. Tilly for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
