When your virtual reality trespasses on your actual reality, things can get complicated very fast …
Clarissa Mitchell owns a wedding boutique and spends her days with blushing brides, but that doesn’t mean she wants to be one. With her dating history? No way. Love just isn’t in the cards for her. And she’s fine with that. Her social life, which includes a harmless cyber crush, is plenty fulfilling. Until her online life clashes with her real one, that is, and she comes face-to-face with the man of her fantasies. A man who wastes no time worming his way into her heart, one steamy kiss and sweet gesture at a time.
Mark Talbot isn’t looking for love, either. Watching his father die young from a condition that might be hereditary cured him of any romantic notions he might’ve had. But when his mother’s impending wedding brings the beautiful and inscrutable Clarissa into his life, he begins to wonder if maybe love isn’t as out of reach as he’d always assumed it was.
Can Clarissa and Mark overcome their fears and painful pasts to take a shot at happily ever after? Or is the risk of another potential heartbreak simply too terrifying to consider?
A crush. A meeting. A decision. When a beautiful and reserved wedding designer meets the man of her dreams, will their secrets destroy their relationship before it begins?
Clarissa Mitchell is an attractive and intelligent businesswoman with no love life. Seeing the happy faces of the brides who wear her wedding gowns is enough for her. Her past makes her wary of men and she has no time for a relationship…until the man she watches on a podcast every week walks into her store. A man she fantasizes about…
Mark Talbot will do anything to make his mother happy and when she insists on visiting Clarissa Mitchell’s wedding boutique with him in tow, he is stunned by how beautiful and vibrant Clarissa is. He already knew she was intelligent by the questions she sends to his podcast, and he wants to get to know her better. But it isn’t fair to let her close because he can’t offer her what she wants.
Clarissa and Mark’s relationship is a troubled one but with patience and understanding, they overcome the odds and secrets. The supporting characters are a great addition and I would love to read the brooding Sterling’s story. My favorite character is Mark. He is a wonderful son, brother, friend, and lover who enjoys reading romances and sacrifices his happiness for others. A man after my own heart who gives me the warm fuzzies!
This is one of those books I couldn’t put down. I wanted to find out Clarissa’s secret about her estranged family and how she would react to Mark’s news about his personal life. If you enjoy romances with secrets, please give this one a try.
Thank you to Ms. Rivers for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
Taking one hand, he twirled her, and when she returned to his embrace, she found herself plastered to him, their lower bodies swaying rhythmically against each other, mimicking the actions of lovemaking—or at least how she assumed lovemaking would be.
She swallowed, her mouth suddenly dry. Her nerve endings were on fire, and what was worse, she didn’t know if it was his doing or hers. Had she been the one to thrust her body forward? She could well have been, with how many dirty thoughts were rioting through her mind. All of them half-baked fantasies because she had nothing to base them on besides the romance novels she no longer read.
Their dance was the complete opposite of her earlier one with Sterling. Mark smashed her personal space to smithereens and spun her in circles, her skirt swishing around her knees. Where Sterling’s grasp had been light, the heat from Mark’s palm singed her as it rested on the small of her back. His other hand traced a path from her shoulder up to cup her cheek. Body heat emanated from his chest and enveloped her. His breath stirred her ear, and then his cheek grazed hers. She gasped, and his fingers dug into the softness of her hips.
“You smell amazing,” he murmured, rubbing his cheek on hers lazily, like a big cat scenting her. “What is that?”
Oh God, was this actually happening? She was high on his presence. She wanted more, needed more. She felt warm inside, deliciously intoxicated by his pheromones. She could stay this way forever. And maybe he was high on her too. What else would explain the way he was sniffing her like she was a scented candle.
“Ylang ylang,” she whispered, suddenly shy.
His breath hitched, then he groaned, almost inaudibly. “I love it.”
Unfamiliar heat pooled between her thighs, and she pressed them together, seeking relief. “Um-hmm.” Eloquent, Rissa. “I use it in my bath. It helps with stress.”
He sighed. “That’s a detail I could have done without.”
She stiffened, even as her mind remained languid. “What do you mean by that?”
He squeezed his eyes shut, his eyelashes casting shadows over his cheeks, and he swallowed. “Just that I’m trying to be a good guy, and now I’m picturing you in the bath. It doesn’t help.”
