When Art Rises (Living in Cin, #1) by Lorrain Allen

Arthur “Art”

The moment I die, I’m going straight to hell, and that’s exactly where I belong.
When I was fifteen, the course of my life changed—one second was all it took.
The truth about what happened that summer night is driving me to the brink of insanity.  I’m an ex-drug addict and suicide survivor who’s been deemed a lost cause. No one can control me.  I don’t give a damn about anything—until I meet her.  She’s a “Cin” worth committing.

Cinnamon “Cin”

I have a life most would envy—a track star with a full scholarship lined up after I graduate high school.  My boyfriend and I are looking forward to our future together. I’m content—until I meet him.  He’s dangerous, damaged, and I know it’s best to keep my distance, but damn I’m drawn to him.  Art is a beautiful disaster, tearing my carefully laid plans apart, causing havoc.  Little did I know my choice would set in motion the destruction of my perfect world.  The consequences will be catastrophic once the dust settles.

Holy crap!  I need a cold shower after that one. The hormones are flying in this one folks. Apparently, I went to the wrong damn high school. 😉 Book 2 is ordered and waiting to be devoured.

Art is an angry, suicidal trainwreck after his young brother’s death. He blames himself.  He cuts himself. Nothing and no one can get to him except a tiny tomboy of a girl that won’t know what hit her.

Cin is happy and in love with her boyfriend, Trevor. They even plan to go to college together. Until the beautiful and tragic Art walks into her life and all hell breaks loose leaving her shattered and alone.

The author’s bio says it all. Lorrain Allen’s books are controversial and extremely dark. There are a lot of triggers including suicide, bullying, drug addiction, and cutting to name a few.  However, there is a shocking love story in there that tears at one’s heart and leaves you wondering what just happened. Believe me, you won’t be able to put this one down…and yes (sigh!), another cliffhanger ending.

Overall, this is a twisted and toxic romance between two teens intent on destroying each other from the love they can’t deny and the guilt they can’t get past. If you are ready for a fast-paced and nerve-wracking enemies-to-lovers story between an anti-hero and his unsuspecting and willing heroine, give this book a try.

Lorrain AllenLorrain Allen aka Trigger Queen has enjoyed writing ever since she was in first grade. She loves to get away from the world and lose herself in a book. As a young adult, she became a romance book junky and was inspired to pen her first romance by the many creative authors whose books she’s read. Her main focus is writing nontraditional dark romance. The subject matter of her books is a little controversial, but life is boring without a little controversy.
