Overture (North Security #1) by Skye Warren
ABOUT THE BOOK
The world knows Samantha Brooks as the violin prodigy. She guards her secret truth—the desire she harbors for her guardian.
Liam North got custody of her six years ago. She’s all grown up now, but he still treats her like a child. No matter how much he wants her.
No matter how bad he aches for one taste.
MY REVIEW
I was first introduced to Liam in Diamond in the Rough as Elijah’s estranged older brother and I swore I was going to read about this mysterious man with a dark past. I wasn’t disappointed.
Samantha and Liam’s relationship is seductive, emotional, and exquisitely taboo. I’m not normally a fan of the large age-gap, but it works here. Her slow and sensual seduction of Liam on her eighteenth birthday is a memorable scene. However, I understand her decision in the end, and I can’t wait to see her grow and become the woman she deserves to be. Liam’s upbringing sounds so heartbreaking as he lives with so much self-deprecation and feelings of unworthiness. I look forward to seeing how Samantha breaks through his walls. In addition, the story includes mystery and danger that ends with a shocking cliffhanger.
The supporting characters of Liam’s brothers Josh and Elijah and Samantha’s friends Laney and Cody are a great addition to the story and give insight into Liam and Samantha’s lives.
Overture is a deliciously forbidden romance filled with dark elements, temptation, danger, and heartache. I couldn’t put this book down and I definitely plan to pick up Concerto (North Security, #2) soon.
Also, read my review for the beginning of Elijah’s story, Diamond in the Rough (Diamond, #1).
