ABOUT THE BOOK
It’s normal for your washing machine to get more action than you, right?
I wake up, bleary-eyed. It’s been two years, six months and three hours since I last shaved my legs, and the llama-patterned knickers I’m wearing have seen better days. We have seven minutes before the kids wake up, and my husband shuffles closer. ‘Ouch,’ he says, a piece of Lego sticking into his back. Then, a light comes on in the landing. Small footsteps creep down the stairs. A little voice screams, ‘IS SOMEONE COMING TO MAKE BREAKFAST?!’ All hopes of having some ‘alone time’ is replaced with wondering if we’ve run out of Cheerios, thinking about the overflowing laundry, and remembering that I forgot to take out the recycling. Again.
Just a typical Monday morning for the Morton family…
Except today, when I go downstairs in my dressing gown, I find something. Something belonging to my husband. Something that definitely wasn’t mentioned in the wedding vows. And it’s either going to make us… or break us.
MY REVIEW
One cannot walk away from a Kristen Bailey story without rolling on the floor laughing and falling in love with her quirky characters and their extremely hilarious capers. I picked this book up after reviewing the very uproarious Can I Give My Husband Back? Needless to say, I couldn’t put this book down.
Meg’s confusion and vulnerability over her husband’s racy and unusual hobby have made her question herself and her marriage, but when Danny explains his passion, she discovers that maybe it’s not so bad. And then the games begin and their life is changed forever.
I absolutely adore Meg and Danny. They are such a lovely pair with three adorable daughters. It’s a delightful and amusing treat to see Meg and Danny find their mojo again after three kids and 12 years of marriage while trying to keep a secret that could blow the doors off their life as they see it. Add in all of the colorful characters like Danny’s traveling womanizing brother, Stu, Danny’s lovable parents, and the bizarre and endearing local couples, and you get a rip-roaring eye full of debauchery and hilarity beyond your wildest dreams. My favorite character is Danny. He is such a lovable, humble, and extraordinary dad, husband, brother, son, friend, and boss. A man of little words with a heart of gold and an unusual talent.
Ms. Bailey’s writing is bursting with intelligent and entertaining banter that will make you snort with glee. Her characters are strong and vulnerable at the same time and get themselves into fantastically funny and zany situations.
This book insights belly laughs and is filled with heart, love, and good old fashioned family relationships that will make you want more from this author. So give it a try. I guarantee it will make your day.
