Monster In His Eyes (Monster in His Eyes #1) by J.M. Darhower
ABOUT THE BOOK
Ignazio Vitale is not a good man.
I suspect it, the first time I see him, sense the air of danger that surrounds the man. He has a way of commanding attention, of taking control, of knowing what I’m thinking before I even do.
It’s alarming and alluring. It’s dark and deadly. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted but the last thing I truly need. Obsession.
It doesn’t take him long to draw me into his web, charming me into his bed and trapping me in his life, a life I know nothing about until it’s too late. He has secrets, secrets I can’t fathom, secrets that make it so I can’t walk away, no matter how much I beg him to let me go. I see it sometimes in his eyes, a darkness that’s both terrifying and thrilling. He’s a monster, wrapped up in a pretty package, and what I find when I unmask him changes everything.
I want to hate him.
Sometimes, I do.
But it doesn’t stop me from loving him, too.
He’s a monster wrapped up in a pretty package.
This my first book by J.M. Darhower and it is fantastic! The foreboding that Ignazio “Naz” Vitale’s presence gives off is disturbing and dangerous. People are careful around him. His warnings to Karissa Reed to not trust anyone is screaming trouble. But Karissa’s innocence is his weapon and she cannot return to the love she once felt for him.
As Karissa navigates her way through college at New York University, she confronts a mysterious and gorgeous man who will change her life forever. His charm draws her in and his control keeps her prisoner. He says he loves her, but at what cost?
Naz is passionate and controlling and his love for Karissa is forever. His secrets are tragic and unforgivable. He’s a monster. Now that he has found what he sought, he can’t let go.
The love between Karissa and Naz grows with a sinister element just around the corner. My heart goes out to Karissa with her innocence and trust in a man full of darkness and light. It’s like he’s two people. When he is dark, he is brutal. When he is light, he’s enticing. Naz is a lonely and troubled soul who didn’t plan to love again. The path he took in life is vicious and one can see that he wars with that life and his love for Karissa. His is a tragic story that unfolds slowly, cruelly, inevitably…
I was enthralled with this story from the beginning. Their story is painful and devastating. It is like watching a train wreck where you can’t turn away. The characters are corrupt. The plot is shocking. Their story is not finished. It’s one of the best dark romances I’ve read in a long time.
