Over the Moon by K.K. Allen

ABOUT THE BOOK

“My secrets have always kept me safe… until he saw my truth.”

Kingston Scott is the most eligible bachelor in professional football, a charming rebel on and off the field. He’s also in desperate need of an attitude adjustment.

After a reckless night on the town puts him behind bars, he’s sentenced to coach football at a sleepaway camp in the middle of nowhere. He’s not sure he’ll survive an entire month of torture… until he sees her. The intoxicating woman with the silver moon eyes, the reserved smile, and the past she’s determined to keep hidden.

Silver Livingston is the resident nurse at Camp Dakota, a beautiful temptress on and off the clock. She’s also a forbidden mystery to all who know her.

After a decade of living in the shadows of the safe haven she’s created, she receives news that threatens her perfect façade. Silver isn’t sure what to do next… and then she sees him. The new arrival with the body of a god, a flashy smile, and evergreen eyes that burn straight through to her core.

Now, Silver isn’t sure which threat to fear most—the irresistible man she knows she must deny or the inevitable head-on collision with her past.

MY REVIEW

When I get ready to read a K.K. Allen book, I make my little reading nest with my warm tea and soothing music and plan a day of absorbing the lovely magic of two people falling in love. Over the Moon was no exception. It is about two opposites who are hiding from life by putting up defenses to keep the hurt at bay. Watching them peel back the layers is so enjoyable and refreshing that I didn’t want it to stop.

Ms. Allen does a fantastic job morphing a completely arrogant and selfish asshole into a sweet romantic with swoon-worthy gestures that made my heart skip a beat or two. I have to admit his humor and dirty mouth were a plus as well. Kingston’s past is sad and lonely and he wears armor to protect himself. He is such a grumpy child at first when he doesn’t get his way, but when his crass come-ons and sexual innuendos don’t impress a good girl like Silver, he starts to look at his life and changes for the better. I really loved the way Kingston started bonding with the kids at the football camp and how proud and childlike he was about his team.

Silver’s life isn’t all rosy either. Her life has been a lie for the last eight years and is hiding away on Orcas Island as a camp nurse afraid to be found. She’s a workaholic with no love life until one hot NFL defensive end slowly starts breaking down her walls until the game is over.

The sexual tension between Kingston and Silver is off the charts hot. I was counting down the words until they sealed the deal and it was definitely worth waiting for (sigh…). Silver did a good job putting him in his place and holding him off as long as she did which made him reflect on what a shit he was being before.

Silver’s best friend Hope is funny and I was rooting for her to get her man, but Anderson Bexley who owns Camp Dakota is clueless about how to woo Hope. I can’t wait to read about these two. It was also fun to see Chloe and Gavin from Up In the Treehouse. A wonderful K.K. Allen novel from the BelleCurve series. A series I need to catch up on.  I also enjoyed Zach’s excitement with the football camp and how it rubbed off on Kingston.

I wholeheartedly recommend this beautifully written love story that will capture your heart and make you want more. It’s a book you will not be able to put down.

Thank you to Ms. Allen for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
