Awakening (Ares Falls Billionaires #0.5) by Jax McKay

Fighting is my life. How else would I hold the reigning title of heavyweight champion?

I don’t have time for anything else in my life.
Not drama.
Not injuries.
Not relationships…

All I ever need is one night to take off the edge.
One night of meaningless…
And that night, the lucky girl was Violet Lancaster.

Now I’m being forced to decide.
Do I want to defend my title again?
Or should I walk away from everything I know?

Book 1 of the Ares Falls Billionaire series is a prequel novella introducing us to Austin York, heavyweight MMA fighter who is dealing with a lot of crap in his life. His body has hit its limit. He can’t train like he wants to according to his doctor. He is supporting his twin brother who has just got out of prison. And he’s dealing with the slimey president of Fighters International Nathan Kraft who is playing games with Austin’s money and his career.

In the meantime, his hot one-night stand with the sexy and no-nonsense bartender, Violet, is a night he won’t forget. She didn’t even know his name as she walked out of his life, but something tells me she will return in the next book.

This 90-page novella is fast-paced and gives the reader a look at the four friends who agree to build a legit empire to support future fighters. The fighter, the felon, the manager, and the financier.

Ms. McKay has penned a compelling read about an underdog who is destined to make it to the top with the help of his best friends.  I’m looking forward to reading this series.
