Fortius (Finley #4) by Mariëtte Whitcomb
ABOUT THE BOOK
I’ve hunted sexual predators, serial offenders, and brought down a cult. This time I might be in over my head.
A serial killer who knows no boundaries, not in his depravity, or geographically. Four victims. Three cities. Different countries. And that’s just the beginning, or is it?
What starts as a serial murder investigation soon takes a far more sinister turn. An unspeakable crime is being covered up, and it’s up to us to find the truth. The only way to do it – my way. Equal parts profiler and vigilante, but I no longer hunt alone. Aidan’s in this fight with me, as my husband and boss.
With countless lives at stake, nothing will stop us from protecting the innocent. Even if the killer lives in the public eye. No one is untouchable…
MY REVIEW
Finley is back in Book 4 of the Finley series and she’s kicking ass and taking names. Serial killers can run, but they can’t hide from Finley’s dark side. The side that will do anything to always protect the innocent. It’s time to play!
It’s a glorious sight, the moment a predator realizes they are now the prey.
Finley has a new team to help her find the most depraved of serial killers. Her husband Aidan and family have the manpower and means to track down and destroy the very scum she has been hunting for years on her own. But now as a mother, she is more determined to get justice for the victims who are spread out all over the world. Who is the killer? Is there more than one? What is the pattern?
As one who has read the series from the beginning, Finley’s past is a horrific mess and it is so beautiful to see her bond with Aidan, her daughter, Ainsley, and Aidan’s lovely family. The verbal foreplay between Finley and Aidan is sexy and enviable. Finley is in her element in the field. Her dark humor and passion for her mission are a sight to see as she goes down the rabbit hole of depravity and immorality with a vicious international killer. But this time, she’s not alone. This time, her family has her back.
I love Aidan’s family. Ainsley is in good hands with her grandparents and Finley is in good hands with Aidan and his brothers, Rowan and Liam. Finley’s way of mediating between the brothers is honest and sometimes merciless, but she earns the respect she deserves. They all make a great team.
The killings are brutal and the vengeance is sweet in yet another superbly written suspense thriller by Ms. Whitcomb. If you like intrigue, cunning characters, and a plot full of twists and turns, give his book a try. Highly recommend.
Thank you to Ms. Whitcomb for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
