I’ve sworn off men to focus on my dream job that starts on Monday. But my best friend talks me into a final night of fun—a blind date. I only agree because the guy is going to work as a doctor in Africa. It’s the best date of my life. Dr. Africa makes me laugh and swoon and I want to give him a thorough physical examination. He turns into Dr. One Night Stand, and I’m not sad about it.

Monday morning, I’m enthusiastic and excited, until I bump into . . . you guessed it. Apparently Dr. Africa got his brother to fill in on our date, and now I work at the same hospital as the guy I got naked with on Saturday. Did I mention he’s my new boss?

I need to go right to the Emergency Room and find a cure for my crush on Dr. Off Limits.

MY REVIEW

I’ve added yet another author to my favorites list. Ms. Bay’s writing style is engaging as she takes the reader down the rabbit hole of forbidden workplace romance.

Sutton Scott has worked hard to become a first-year foundation doctor and she isn’t about to throw it all away because of a blind date, one-night stand. However, she has an incredible connection with this man. He’s gorgeous, he’s brilliant, he makes her feel important…but he’s her boss. 

Dr. Jacob Cove is a name well known in London. His doctor parents are like royalty and Jacob, himself, has made notable contributions to his profession. He has no time for relationships. His sole mission is to become head of the foundation program at the hospital. He can’t be seen fraternizing with one of the 1st years in the program who happens to be the unforgettable blind date he had as a favor to his brother. Being thrown together is a problem because he wants to be with her again. Can he avoid crossing the line?

I love the warm banter and sexual tension Sutton and Jacob have with each other. You can really feel the pull these two have as they fight their own demons while giving in to the inevitable. Sutton is inspiring as she leaves home at 16, becomes a hairdresser, and educates herself to become a doctor. One can understand her hesitation to hide her and Jacob’s romance so she can be a doctor on her own merits. Jacob has a privileged life as one of the Cove’s and he has lived his father’s mantra to “keep your private life private” until he is faced with a woman who understands him and doesn’t care about his pedigree or status. These two inflexible people fight against their attraction, but they can’t fight against their hearts. It’s a delightful battle to watch with a happy ending.

Supporting characters include Sutton’s best friend Parker and Parker’s fiance Tristan and Jacob’s family who add depth to the story. 

If you enjoy lovers who try to fight the attraction and lose, give this book a chance. I can’t wait to read more of this series.
