MY REVIEW
I recently had the pleasure of reading the Brooks Peterson series by Quinn Marlowe and I have to say, I am hooked! The first book in the series places the reader right in the middle of a mafia family war, with Brooks Peterson fighting to save her own family from the clutches of the Massimo family.
The story follows Brooks Peterson as she tries to charm the one Massimo man she spent an unforgettable night with many years ago. Anthony Massimo is the public face of his family gathering information for his controlling and nasty uncle. Anthony despises the mob and all it entails and his uncle has a very tight reign over his life. All he wants is peace and to live far away from the violence and killings. Brooks’ fiery take-charge personality and Anthony’s subdued, charming demeanor create a sizzling chemistry that is a pleasure to read.
This novella is filled with action, suspense, and sexual tension that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. The author’s writing style is captivating and makes it easy to get lost in the story. I particularly enjoyed Brooks’ character – her strength and determination are admirable, although her actions are a little reckless at times. And let’s not forget, she rides a motorcycle – how badass is that? Anthony, on the other hand, is more subdued but is not afraid to use a gun if he has to.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action-packed romances. The characters are well-developed, the writing is captivating, and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
