Good grief!! I just finished a story recommended by a fellow blogger that can only be described as diabolical. Seriously, if you’re looking for a cozy romance, turn back now. What I stumbled upon was like watching a train wreck unfold right before my eyes—I simply couldn’t look away! And don’t even get me started on the ending… OMG!!!!!
So, I wouldn’t really label this as a romance; it’s more like a psychological thriller/horror story masquerading as one. Enter our main characters: Anthony Rawlings, the MMC, who is nothing short of a controlling, unpredictable monster, and Claire Nichols, the MFC, who is a naive innocent caught in the crossfire of his madman games.
Claire is truly an unsuspecting victim of a man hell-bent on revenge. The cat-and-mouse dynamic that Anthony crafts with her is both cruel and brutal. There were numerous moments when my heart just shattered for her, and I found myself praying she’d make the right decisions. But love, in its blind fury, led her astray, and boy, did she pay the price for it. However, don’t despair. Claire’s transformation in the last part of the book is an eye-opener.
While I have to admit that the writing was absolutely gripping (like, I was on the edge of my seat during some parts) there’s a catch. I found myself skimming through entire pages because I just couldn’t deal with all the frivolous details. Somewhere during the gripping action, the characters were taking these business/pleasure trips and I found myself wishing for a “Get to the Good Parts” button.
I really can’t go into too much detail without giving away the juicy surprises the author has in store, but trust me on this one: prepare yourself! I highly suggest going into this book blind to get that full mindf&ck experience. And just a heads-up…there are many triggers and the book ends with a cliffhanger that will leave you reeling. I am so picking up book 2 immediately.

She grew up in Mishawaka, graduated from Indiana University, and is currently living south of Indianapolis as well as part of the year in Bradenton, Florida, USA. Before she became a full-time author, she worked days as a dental hygienist and spent her nights writing.
