ABOUT THE BOOK
She’s the one variable I can’t control— and I’ll turn my back on everything that I thought mattered to hold onto her…
Alice: Aliens abducted me, locked a collar around my neck, and dumped me on a red rock of a planet like I was nothing. But I’m not helpless. I’m an engineer, and I’ve always been good at breaking things—especially rules. My escape causes an explosion and brings a stranger. Xyrek. He’s cold, lethal, and definitely not one of them… but he’s not exactly safe either. I’m not sure I trust him, but something in me reaches for him anyway. Something ancient. And now that I’m free, the only place that feels anything like home is the one place I never expected… in his arms.
Xyrek: I don’t form attachments. I don’t deviate from mission protocol. And I definitely don’t risk everything for one human female.
Until her.
Alice is clever, sharp-tongued, and completely infuriating. She challenges me in every way that matters—I was sent to rescue her. Now, I’m prepared to kill to protect her. Because she’s not just a mission anymore.
She’s mine.
MY REVIEW
Science fiction romances are a hit or miss with me. I recently picked up the fourth book in a series (definitely my fault), and while the depth of the story intrigued me, I found myself skimming through parts just to get to the heart of the story.
Alice, a human engineer, and Xyrek, an alien Space Guardian, are fated-mates. Their connection is electric with an undeniable chemistry that makes you root for them. You get the thrills of their worlds colliding, not just literally but also emotionally. Watching two beings from such different worlds navigate their way to a cosmic bond feels heartwarming.
The slow-burn tension between Alice and Xyrek adds a delightful layer to the story. Alice’s clumsy engineering antics stand in stark contrast to the stoic, duty-bound demeanor of Xyrek, lending the story some well-timed comedy that offers a nice breath of fresh air amidst the looming darkness of unanswered questions and hidden threats. It’s these moments that truly balance the story, making their evolution as a couple feel genuine and relatable.
However, since I jumped in late to the game, I sometimes felt a bit lost. The plot occasionally gets tangled up in its own web, making it hard to stay fully immersed. There were times I found myself wishing for clarity as the action veered off into long explanations or when character motivations came off as a bit too cliché. I suppose that’s the risk you take when diving in at book four. It’s easy to feel confused and overwhelmed, trying to piece together how the ensemble cast fits into the grand scheme.
Don’t get me wrong, the writing is solid, and for anyone who loves a good alien-abduction romance, this book can still be a treasure trove. If you’re a fan of stories that blend suspense, interstellar love, and a sprinkle of reincarnation, you might just find this one worth the ride. Sure, it might not captivate every reader fully, but there are plenty of swoon-worthy moments and exhilarating escapades that make checking this book out worthwhile.
Thank to Ms. Blair for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no explanation of a positive review.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Bella Blair has been addicted to stories since the cradle. “Again, Mom, again!” she’d demand until her mother finally decided to teach her to read—securing Bella’s lifelong obsession. Later, with her grandmother’s old Royal typewriter (ignoring the crooked letter “E”), Bella started crafting her own stories, complete with daring heroes and fierce heroines.
Inspired by powerful women like Emma Peel, Warrant Officer Ripley, and Buffy, Bella adds a touch of The Witcher and a dash of Khal Drogo to her worlds, creating supercharged characters who practically set the page on fire with romance, action, twists, and a hint of conspiracy.
Originally from Berlin, Germany, Bella moved to the States after falling head over heels for her real-life action hero. Now based in sunny Phoenix, Arizona, she spends her days setting her keyboard ablaze with her latest tales, walking her German Shepherd, Dexter, alongside her very non-alien husband, or catering to an undisclosed amount of spoiled felines ruling the house.
