ABOUT THE BOOK
One hot August night in 1993, a young couple go to a party. When their car breaks down, they are picked up by a truck driver who attacks the man and abducts the woman. She is never seen again.
That woman was Fiona Green’s mother.
When the trucker, Eddie Ward, is caught, a mass grave of bodies is discovered in his backyard but Fiona’s mother isn’t there. Thirty years later, on his prison deathbed, Ward insists that he didn’t kill her, so Fiona finds herself back in the small town where her mother disappeared. Fighting demons of her own, she’s shocked when history repeats itself: another woman, another roadside breakdown, and another disappearance. Only this time the primary suspect is Jason Ward, Eddie’s son. Desperate, Fiona hunts down answers, unaware that she is being drawn into a dangerous trap.
With Jennifer Fawcett’s signature “suspenseful and immersive” (Library Journal) prose, Keep This for Me is a fresh, spellbinding exploration of what we unwillingly inherit from our parents and how one random act can send ripples years into the future.
MY REVIEW
I needed a break from romance overload, so I picked up this very intense mystery thriller by Jennifer Fawcett, and it definitely kept me on my toes! Seriously, if you’re a fan of getting lost in suspense and unraveling clues, this one should be on your reading list.
Fiona Green’s life was shaped by an unimaginable tragedy. Her father was left for dead by a ruthless serial killer, and her mother was abducted and never seen again. It’s hard to comprehend how a single event can impact a life, but Fiona’s story is raw and powerful as she searches for the truth.
Thirty years later, Fiona is returning to the scene of the crime where her mother disappeared. On his deathbed, the serial killer accused of murdering her mother says he didn’t do it. So why change his story now, and what happened to her?
Adding a layer of depth to the story, the author skillfully juggles dual timelines and multiple points of view, revealing the terrifying details of that fateful night alongside the struggles of Jason Ward, who grew up bearing the stigma of being the son of a murderer.
This book is a suspenseful thrill ride with themes of abuse, grief, and mental health. The pacing was slower than I liked due to the timeline shifts, and the climax was predictable. Still, it was enough to keep my heart racing and left me wanting more.
To anyone who enjoys a gripping thriller with strong character development, I recommend this engaging read.
Thank you to Ms. Fawcett for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
