ABOUT THE BOOK
Hensley Richard works tirelessly to balance corporate interests with humanity at Richard Companies, the global enterprise she and her brother inherited. When Hensley’s life is threatened, she flees toward France and hires the elite security team of Titan Group. Little does she know, she will get much more than the protection she expected.
Theo Rossi had always been a charmer, in the before times. After the destruction he’d caused his team, Theo made a vow, one that ruled his life. Rescuing an unconscious woman from the English Channel wouldn’t change that, he wouldn’t let it. However, he is immediately drawn to Hensley’s strength and resilience. Unfortunately, she is now his newest client, and he has sworn to protect her, with his life if necessary. As Titan Group and Theo investigate the threats against Hensley and the danger around them escalates, their bond deepens, but is it enough to save them both?
My job is you. Only you.

MY REVIEW
I chose this book because I enjoyed Amy Cole’s Only Ever You and couldn’t wait to read more about the men in the Titan Group and the women they protect. The opening two chapters of A Vow Worth Breaking are extremely exciting as Theo and Hensley’s lives are about to collide with a bang! However, the repetitive dialogue and underdeveloped characters were a letdown.
Someone wants Hensley Richard dead. As an heiress and a leading mergers-and-acquisitions executive for her family’s empire, Hensley is a resilient fighter trying to save her company from someone close to her. When she meets her protector, Theo, who literally saves her life, the chemistry is strong as they try to fight the attraction and find the bad guys.
I admired Hensley’s strength and resilience after surviving an exploding boat. I mean, she is no doubt very smart, but I found her a bit foolish at times. She claims she can read people, but somehow, she finds herself blindsided by her attacker. A little more situational awareness would’ve gone a long way.
Theo Rossi is a Marine struggling with guilt from a past mission that went tragically wrong. This aspect of his character intrigued me, and I appreciated the complexity of his emotional baggage. However, his rush into a relationship with Hensley was too fast. I mean, his attempts to keep their relationship professional while wrestling with attraction felt genuine, but also made me worry about whether he was in the right mental space for this kind of work.
I normally like romantic suspense, but I really struggled to connect with Theo and Hensley. The story starts with such excitement, but then it drags a bit in the middle, focusing more on romance when I was itching for action. By the time the pace picked up again toward the end, I found myself skimming through the last half.
Thank you to Ms. Cole for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
