Echo: Burn (Men of Echo Ridge #1) by Delta James

ABOUT THE BOOK

I didn’t survive Delta Force by being soft. Fire burned me, missions hardened me, and now I live alone in a mountain cabin where no one crosses my perimeter. My world is fire, steel, and silence.

Until she crashes into it.

Willa Hart is a fugitive with haunted eyes and a past that could expose everything Echo Company has fought to protect. I should’ve sent her away the moment I leveled my shotgun at her. Instead, I made a choice I swore I’d never make again. I let her stay. In my cabin. In my bed. Under my protection.

Snow closes in. Her stalker circles tighter. And every day, the line I drew around my heart gets burned away. She sees the man behind the scars, the soldier I thought was long gone.

Now she’s mine.

And anyone who tries to take her will burn.

MY REVIEW

Survival isn’t about hoping for the best. It’s about preparing for the worst and assuming it’ll be worse than that.

Wow! I can always count on a Delta James novel to grab my attention and run away with it. Her brave men and women are what draw me to her books, and this story is extremely action-packed as the protagonists fight for survival.

Willa Hart is a badass warrior, a survivor, and no longer running from danger. Thanks to a courageous pup named Odin, she finds herself tangled up with a sinister organization known as “the Committee.” With nowhere to turn, Rhett Kane and his team have made it their number one mission to protect her and bring down the bad guys. What I admire about Willa is that even when surrounded by lethal men, she bravely and stubbornly stands her ground and proves time and again that sometimes the only way out is through.

Rhett Kane is the epitome of a hero. Controlled, measured, exact, no room for error. No one gets inside unless he allows it. No family to threaten. No friends to betray. No lover to use as leverage. That’s enough. Until her. Echo Base protects the innocent. Kane gives Willa what she needs: real and honest. She touches his scars inside and out.

This story keeps getting better and better. The chemistry between Willa and Kane is instant. The danger they face is immediate and escalating. The hunted have become the hunters, and it is a rollercoaster ride that ends in a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read book 2!

What I absolutely love is how Willa finds a family in Kane’s team. After being alone for too long, she finally has a support system that’s ready to back her up when things go south. The camaraderie is palpable, and it’s heartwarming to see how they would lay down their lives for one another.

So if you’re looking for a novel filled with action, romance, and unforgettable characters, dive into this book. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you to Ms. James for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
