The Fallen Angel (Devil’s Lair #2) by Beena Khan

ABOUT THE BOOK

We’re a match made in hell and matches always burn.

Once upon a myth…
An angel fell in love with the devil.

Salvi Moretti.
I was his Eve, and he was my Lucifer.

Once, on Halloween, I sold my soul to the Devil. I considered Salvi Moretti my God, but he turned out to be the Devil in disguise.

He can break my wings, but he may have forgotten my claws will always come out. Eve died under that bridge and from the deepest underworld, a new entity was born.

Lilith has risen.

Welcome to New York’s Underworld.

The sequel to the Devil’s Lair dark mafia crime romance series. This concludes Salvi and Ehva’s story.

MY REVIEW

Bloody hell!  Beena Khan has a way of making evil fuckery and complete heartbreak a go-to dark romance for me.  The conclusion of Ehva and Salvi’s story is unforgettable with over-the-top vengeance and a love story filled with unbelievable chaos and pure hatred.

The day his essence breaks, and he realizes he can’t own a person is the day I’ll be able to move on with my life.

Ehva is broken from Salvi’s betrayal to the point of almost ending her life, but her unlikely savior is an ideal candidate for her vengeance on Salvi. The naive, trusting Ehva is no longer. The cunning and conniving Lilith has been born. She belongs to no man. It’s time to destroy the Devil where it hurts the most.

Without you, I’ll shatter.” I laugh bitterly. “I will… but with me, you’ll be destroyed. I’ll bring you back alive just to kill you. That’s the nature of a villain.

Salvi is trying to move on after his public humiliation of Ehva, but ruining her for her father’s crimes does not sit well with him. Until she decides to throw him to the wolves and uses his master manipulation against him. The final destructive blow is what changes his life. He must let her live her life without him in it.

The love between Salvi and Ehva is toxic. They have both damaged each other so deeply that there is no coming back from the devastation they have caused. Watching Salvi go from a vengeful and psychopathic killer to a broken human being is a sight to behold. What Ehva does to him is beyond description and hard to swallow, but then I think about what he did to her and it all seems to even out in a fucked up way. Salvi’s realization about Ehva seems too late for making amends. But my heart was right about Salvi from the moment I first read about him and he came through with the most stirring and heartwrenching show of love that I’ve ever read. Ehva tries to put her life back together after her heartbreaking loss, but when she sees Salvi’s tribute to her in all its glory, the tears flow and the love transcends. There were several times towards the end that I thought they weren’t going to make it, but there is no doubt that this was a happy ever ending I was desperately in need of.

This book will stick with me for some time. One of my favorites of 2021. If you love dark romances filled with complete madness and gutwrenching and tear-filled angst, please pick up this book along with Salvi and Ehva’s beginning in The Blue-eyed Devil, book 1 in the Duet series. You won’t regret it. As always be aware of triggers.
