MY REVIEW
L.J. Shen is my go-to author when I want to read about cruel, haunted, and troubled alpha holes who would do anything dirty or shady to be with the women they don’t deserve.
Emilia LeBlanc is the sunshine to his grumpiness, the good to his bad, and the moral to his immoral. She loves to hate the broken boy who was the most brutal, cold, and ruthless of the All Saints High’s “Four HotHoles”. The boy who humiliated and bullied her from day one because she was the daughter of the hired help and she was the only girl around who turned him down and dated his friend instead. Not being able to have her for himself and insisting she was tearing the “Four Hotholes” apart, he forced her to leave California or else. Ten years later in New York, she is practically homeless trying to support her ill sister when she runs into the boy-turned-unmerciful-and-successful-lawyer who wants to use her for his personal gain. With her sister’s medical bills, she has no choice but to accept his offer to be his PA at his law firm run by, who else, but the “Four Hotholes” themselves. Will she finally give in to her feelings?
Baron “Vicious” Spencer Jr., is part of the elite All Saints High’s “Four HotHoles”. All the guys want to be them and all the girls want to sleep with them. But Vicious has a secret and when the help’s daughter overhears a private conversation behind closed doors he makes her life a living hell. It pissed him off when she brushed him off, but he blew his top when she started dating his buddy. She was his and if he couldn’t have her no one could, so he ruined her life and sent her away. When he sees her ten years later as a barely dressed waitress who is undernourished, he hatches a plan to use her for his revenge. He offers her a job and a place for her and her sister to stay in exchange for her assistance to stick it to his stepmom and dad. Little does she know he also plans to finally make her his until he gets her out of his system.
Emilia and Vicious have a complicated relationship, to say the least. The chemistry is combustible and the angsty storyline with flashbacks is engaging. Vicious is one of the top alpha holes I’ve had the displeasure of meeting. He’s so despicable and rotten to Emilia with his insults and awful nickname for her that I wanted to throat-punch him. But underneath his gruff and hateful persona is a man with a traumatic past that no one knows about until he eventually opens up to Emilia. He’s been waiting years to get revenge and when it finally blows up in his face, he realizes that it wasn’t as important as the woman who has been in his thoughts every day. Emilia is so selfless, loyal, and strong and the way she sacrificed her life for her family is heartwarming. The way she endured Vicious’s treatment was simply admirable as she held her own giving little thought to his wealth and status. Despite how cruel Vicious is to Emilia, under all his thinly veiled threats you can see how much he craves her. Don’t worry. There is retribution for what Vicious endured as a child and well-deserved groveling to get the girl.
This delicious story of hate, love, and obsession is well-written and captivating. I can’t wait to read about the other “Hotholes” in the series.
