Rebel North (The North Brothers #2) by JB Salsbury

ABOUT THE BOOK

In a city where image is everything, Gabriella turns heads for all the wrong reasons. The marks that slash across her neck and face turn people away. But I see the beauty that lies beneath, feel a kinship to her pain.

I regret the way she found me—mugged and left for dead. I should walk away, follow the rules, but I can’t. I want to see her again. There’s only one problem. My brother convinced her I’m gay. I use that lie to my advantage, persuade her to be my pretend girlfriend, to help protect my fake-sexual identity from my judgmental family. But what starts as a shameless excuse to be near her leads to crossed lines and midnight confessions.

I’m not who I led her to believe. I’m sin wrapped in silk. Betrayal masked by beauty. And she’s not the only one with scars…

MY REVIEW

I was so excited to read Kingston’s story after meeting him in Wild North. His uniqueness and unconventionality are refreshing. His fashion sense is extraordinary and he owns it. Flying dick shirt be damned! LOL

Kingston is the youngest of the North brothers and is considered the black sheep of the family. He enjoys the wealth and privilege, but doesn’t work for North Industries until his father gives him an ultimatum. But that isn’t his only challenge. He has been in love with Gabriella from the moment he saw her but through a misunderstanding, she thinks he’s gay.  After all, his family has always assumed so why wouldn’t she? They become quick friends which is remarkably entertaining while they fight their attraction for each other, but will Kingston’s secrets and shame drive her away?

Gabriella is trying to recover from her accident three years ago that left her scarred inside and out. She never believed someone as gorgeous as Kingston North would look twice at her. As she fights her attraction for him, she only falls harder for his kindness and vulnerability. He touches her scars, her heart, and her soul.

I loved Kingston and Gabriella’s story. They have so much fun together and they both see the people behind the scars and anguish. Watching the confidant and cocky Kingston become undone when he’s around Gabriella is not only surprising to himself, but to his brothers as well. The North family dynamic is funny and volatile, but all in all, they are there for each other. Gabriella is a great wingman to Kingston when it comes to his asshole father and stepmom. Her hilarious stories and insults are so accurate and deserving to those determined to make her uncomfortable. You go, girl! My heart broke every time someone so rudely stared at and commented about her scars. Gabriella and Kingston have a lot to work through from their surprising and heartbreaking pasts and some personal soul searching before they can move forward, but love prevails in the end.

Ms. Salbury’s writing is incredibly captivating as she sets in motion a dramatic chain of incredible twists and turns that had me cheering for two beautiful people deserving of a happily ever after.

Uplifting, heartbreaking, and revealing. This love story has it all. The North brothers are complex and appealing and I can’t wait to see the woman who brings the hateful Hayes to his knees. I highly recommend this exceptional series!

Thank you to Ms. Salsbury for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no exception of a positive review.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

When I published my first book I didn’t intend to write more than the one. If I could sell six books to six people I didn’t know I considered myself a success. But that first book sold well over six copies and I knew I couldn’t stop there.

I was bitten by the writing bug and have poured my soul into every novel I’ve penned since. Some of my books have become USA Today Bestsellers, New York Times Bestsellers, and Fighting to Forgive won a RONE Award. I couldn’t be more proud of where my writing has taken me.

I live in Phoenix with my husband and two daughters where I’m lucky to be able to do something I love and still be home to juggle carpool, field trips, and fifth-grade homework.

When I’m not writing, reading, or spending time with my family I can be found on any of the local mountain trails hiking, or at the gym when the desert temps become unbearable. I love being outside, beach vacations, and spending time with friends.
